No doubt.. I called the cops on one such wondermom when I lived in Duluth in the early 90's who thought is was smart to lock her little boy in his room with one of those latch locks on the outside of the door and go party all night. Place was old and a tinderbox that could burn at any time being it was full of drunks who liked to smoke and pass out for recreation.Not to mention the state payed her B/F to "babysit", sold her food stamps for 50 cents on the dollar, lied about going to school and was pregnant again when I moved.

 

The worst part, the week before, I told her that I was always home, in the building next to hers, old huge houses converted to apts., and if she ever needed soneone to watch Devon to just bring him by and he could sleep at my place anytime. Never woulda asked, expected, or want to be paid.. then a few days later, there he is, locked in his dungeon as her and B/F partied the night away.. Cops weren't too happy, but in the end, it changed nothing. They used to lock him in there during the day while they were home too.. until someone knocked at the door.. Poor kid.

 

The only good thing was the welfare laws changed in the mid ninties.. wonder how she liked them apples...

 

Jesus!! Do you know what happened to him? Poor kid. Those are the kind of parents that really need a good fierce punch in the face.

 

Don't worry about my Mum. She's survived cancer twice and is a very strong person when it comes to the crunch. I hope (and believe) she's got a good ten years left in her.

I don't know.. poor kid... He'd be in his early 20's about now too... I moved from Duluth to Minneapolis shortly after and never saw them again.. Wonder what happened to her other child she was pregnant with when I moved too? Don't even wanna think about it..

 

Wow... beat cancer twice.. That's excellent. Hope your mum lives another 30..

What happened that night was, they got home at 3:30 am about 45 minutes to an hour after the police arrived, who were looking for a way in and confirming that no one was indeed home except the boy in bed you could see through a broken spot in the blinds..

 

When they got home, she fed the cops some crap that the neighbor girl, who had 5 or 6 kids of her own, was "checking on him" and had just done so, and when the cops asked the neighbor if that was true, she lied for her.. Cops knew she was full of .. I heard one say, "we've been here almost an hour and no one has checked on him in that time"... and even if so, a neighbor in a seperate apt. with 6 kids isn't gonna do him any good if there was a fire. Why wasn't he at her apt. if she was watching him?

 

Funny thing too.. that neighbor was the one telling people that they did this crap "all the time".. then she lies for them? Whatever.. The cops went in and I'm sure saw the lock on the door.. Prolly scolded her a bit and left.. Hopefully child welfare got involved after that but I have no idea..

 

 

Least maybe they thought twice before they did it the next time.. doubt it though.
