"It was offensive to some students," Woinski said, when asked what school officials told him the reason for being sent home was. Read more: http://wcbstv.com/watercooler/jesus.halloween.costume.2... ImWithStupid Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 OK, why is this offensive? He sure made SOMEONE very cross, and they nailed him for it. . . Well, my best guess is it's either because it was a disruption as the school says, or it is more fall out from the ACLU driven, false separation of church and state, persecution, just as the whole overhype from HIPPA is in the medical community, and everyone is scared of being sued by some liberal organization or fined and/or punished by the government. phreakwars Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 Ugh, must you make this another political thread? How about a real answer. I don't find it one bit offensive.. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
ImWithStupid Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Ugh, must you make this another political thread? How about a real answer. I don't find it one bit offensive.. . . I personally wouldn't find it offensive, but that wasn't your question. You asked why is this offensive, so I answered your question. It's not so much political as it is a bash at the current litigious socitey we live in. It comes from a fear of being sued. That's why schools now, instead of giving kids detention for fighting, they call the cops, thats why schools report kids for sexual assault if a kid kisses a girl who doesn't like him, it's crazy. The amount of effort that goes into people who have to waste time, going out of the way, to cover their ass, so they don't get sued, is obscene. A lot of this comes from organizations like the ACLU. I will affirm that they do take on some legitimate causes, but they also take on some absolute crap. That was my main point. Quote
Guest sheik-yerbouti Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 OK, why is this offensive? He sure made SOMEONE very cross, and they nailed him for it. . . I think it was because the god-squad did not aprove of the kid associating Jesus with what they consider to be spooky/paganish things. What I'm wondering, is why the god-squad were there in the first place. Where they at a celebration of All Hallows Eve, ie a Christian celebration, because that where they should have been. Much more likely, they were in spooky masks and clothing, ie a kids party and nothing to do with Christianity, so what were they doing there ? They should have been grovelling on their knees somewhere else, like church. Quote
snafu Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Ummm.. not to discern this as a political post, I think this comes down to socialism. OK we've been going down this politically correct life style for decades. I don't know what to make of it other than we will all be walking talking ting drones in the next 30 years. Anna Perenna Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 OK, why is this offensive? He sure made SOMEONE very cross, and they nailed him for it. . . Perhaps he was headbutting the other kids with his crown of thorns. Who knows? Kids are always being sent home for behaving badly. We probably don't have the full story .... Old Salt Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Would the boy be sent home for dressing up as Satan?Probably not. Halloween is to dress up as ghosts, goblins, witches and devils. The kid was dressed for the wrong holiday. If he would have just come as Jesus I'll bet nothing would have been said. Quote

eddo Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 What I wanna know, is who was offended, some fundamentalist religious freaks, or some politically correct liberal bastards. . . Valid question. Who did the complaining here? Christian folks who considered this blasphemous? Folks of other religions who didn't dress up like their religious leader? Atheist folks who felt religion was being shoved down their throat? Homosexual boys who were told they couldn't wear dresses? Middle Eastern kids who complained that Jesus wasn't white? The kid that dressed up like Judas Iscariot? Interesting... Quote I'm trusted by more women.
RoyalOrleans Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Folks of other religions who didn't dress up like their religious leader? I'd like to see the 600-lb. kid dress up like Buddha. Quote To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man. - Ric Flair Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science.

wez Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I'd be lucky to make it into Iowa.. Every God fearing Christian knows Jesus was a white guy from Philly.. Quote
ImWithStupid Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Have to throw out a BS flag on that. A couple years back a friend of mine went as a black Jesus, afro and all for Halloween and even won the prize at one of the local bars here in Nebraska. . . . Quote

Head up to Grand Casino dressed in that garb and makeup, see if you don't get shot or strung up for just pretending to be black. Ahhlee Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Grand Casino. Ahhhh, memories. Actually we had a cross dressing pregnant nun win a prize at a Halloween party here in North Dakota a few years back, but "she" must have left her black lover Jesus at home. Quote
