OK this is just plain ed up!

OK this is just plain ed up!

 

 

The Army has decided to cut off retirement pay for veterans of a largely Native militia formed to guard the territory of Alaska from the threat of Japanese attack during World War II.

 

 

The change means 26 surviving members of the Alaska Territorial Guard -- most in their 80s and long retired -- will lose as much as $557 in monthly retirement pay, a state veterans officer said Thursday. The payments end Feb. 1, according to U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

BOOO! That's really horrible. Next thing you know, nobody that's retired from the military will get what they earned.

Bringing terrorist leaders to American prisons is completely stupid.

 

It's dangerous and irresponsible.

 

I agree totally but it?s better than that last terrorist that Obama commuted his sentence in half and let him go.

 

If he's gonna up and close Gitmo at least keep these assholes locked up!

True story:

So We finished painting the entire first level and all the way to the water line when it came time to paint the 21 on the front of the ship. Guess who got picked to go over the side? yeap.. yours truly. So I was lowered about two stories down on a boatman's chair with my best buddy Graig. It's a two seater. This information becomes pertinent later in the story.

Our tools of the trade that we were using was some paint, paint brushes, some line and a boat hook. The boat hook is to catch a hook on the boat. Duh.. but when you do you pull yourself to the boat and end half upside down. I was in the midst of tyeing us in place when Graig let go of the boat hook before I finished. So he loses the boat hook in the water and we are now swinging back and forth. The Second Class yells to Graig "jump and get the boat hook". Of course he was clowning around. Nobody in their right mind would jump another 3 or 4 stories down into crap filled disgusting harbor water but not to miss an opportunity to be the class clown Graig jumps off the boatman's chair and into the drink. Physics come into play right about then.

His side of the chair shoots up due to the lack of weight on his side.:rolleyes:

So I'm dangling precariously by my side of the rope. Everybody topside is having the time of their lives laughing their asses off at me.

The threat of "if you don't pull me up NOW, don't even plan on sleeping tonight! I will kill you!" They decided to pull me up.

When I got promoted to Third Class, back in '09 (hey, it's '09 again! :eek:), we were tied up to a pier in Long Beach shipyard. They took us newbies back to the fantail and threw us all overboard as an initiation. Same nasty water - this was before all the environmental stuff. The skipper heard about it and stopped them just before they could throw the last guy in. Unfortunately, I was next to last.

That he?d earned his keep on the briny deep and paid his share of dues.

I asked if he would share with me some mem'ries from his career,

He said he might if the price was right, and the price was a can of beer!

 

I?ve shipped on subs and oily tubs, on battleships and cruisers,

Ten thousand mates and I can state not one of them was losers.

LST?s on foreign seas, from Tarawa to Leyte,

You name it, lad, I?ve been there, from Alaska down to Haiti.

 

Liberty ships of paper clips, balsa wood and glue,

I saw one break apart one time and lose her gallant crew.

Marine Corps I took ashore on Tarawa and Truk.

Oh what the Hell, for quite a spell, I've had my share of luck.

 

One thing more, he said, before I move along,

There ain't no air that?s quite as fair as the pipe of the boatswain?s song.

And the place to be is on the sea riding a fair sea swell,

With mates like you in Navy blue who?ll follow you straight through Hell.

 

So here?s to you and your Navy crew who take our ships to sea,

You?ve fought and died and never cried throughout our history.

You?re heroes all and ten feet tall and your spirits never lag,

You?re the nation?s best and you never rest in defense of our country?s flag!

 

He rose to leave and I believe that he seemed to move much faster,

His eyes agleam like a laser beam and his skin was alabaster,

He glowed at first then soon dispersed in a cloud of misty cotton,

A dream at most, perhaps a ghost, but not to be forgotten.
