emkay64 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Well...I found out that a woman I worked with back home was found dead in her home this week. Apparently she had been dead for approximately 15 mos. and nobody knew or cared to come and find out. I feel sick to my stomach. I realize I only spent two summers with her when I was 15, but I knew a different person than what the fukking papers have portrayed. I know she was a little off, and mentally unstable, but I knew her to be a good and caring person. I knew her as the woman that kick boxed competitively against grown men, I knew her as the woman that toured across Europe on a bike and that she was an accomplished wildlife artist. I feel so sad that her illness progressed to the point of being a total recluse and that she was so uncomfortable being around people. I am also incredibly sad that her existing family never cared enough to find out where she was. I feel sad that she died alone on her floor with no one to care about her whereabouts for over 15 mos. Anyways...be thankful you all have friends and family this season that care about you all Reclusive woman lived, died alone Quote

eddo Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 wow, that is horrible. Quote I'm trusted by more women.
wez Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 That's so sad.. I'm so sorry emmy.. I always think of Layne Staley from A.I.C. too.. he was dead for over 2 weeks before anyone found him.. I know Jerry Cantrell took in his cat after.. All too common.. you know, sometimes I go quite awhile w/out really seeing or talking to anyone close too, cept for you guys here. Other than my folks, could easily happen to me too once they're gone if I'm still living alone.. Anyone living alone really.. Often a boss or co worker will call to have someone check when people don't show up for work.. That's life I guess.. People get busy with "the real world" as I we get older.. Oh well, hopefully I could feed my cat til someone would notice me missing.. Quote
Guest angie Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I don't get people. We had a case similar to that out East, except the woman's two sons kept using her house and stepping over her rotting corpse. People are too self-absorbed these days. Found the article, it was a son and daughter, and they didn't use the house regularly, but left it for 7 years http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/07/28/national/main4299360.shtml Quote
snafu Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I don't get people. We had a case similar to that out East, except the woman's two sons kept using her house and stepping over her rotting corpse. People are too self-absorbed these days. Now that's sad! They could have at least pushed her down the cellar or something. I remember seeing a pic on the net with a dead grandma still in a kitchen chair. The people put the grandchild on her lap and took the pic. Morbid for sure. emkay I think this women wanted to die alone so I don't feel much sadness. She went out the way she wanted and we should respect her decission to die that way. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!"
