Warren, Obama, and all the people it pissed off

Sooo... I won't say this on Democratic Underground, because they will ban me again for like the 4th or 5th time if I do, :p, but... I realize that there are many gays who are mad about Obama picking Rick Warren to do the prayer at his inaugeration, I say BIG FRIKKEN DEAL, IF IT PISSES YOU OFF, THEN GOOD !!

It's almost hilarious how if you visit DU today, you'll read pages and pages and pages of long drawn out rants about gay rights, human rights, blah blah blah, how people can no longer support Obama, and yadda yadda yadda. How Obama is just being a politician and it's politics as usual, and etc, etc, etc..

Then you have the ones defending him saying he is just reaching out across party lines and its no big deal, followed by a whiny rebuttal of why it IS a big deal..

Oh man, that whole site has been CHAOS since Obama started picking cabinet members THEY don't approve of.

Well, as a DEMOCRAT, I'll say this... GOOD, yes, that's right... GOOD !!

I personally don't think I could stand an entire LIBERAL cabinet. Nothing would EVER get done. Same goes with an all conservative cabinet, nothing will or ever has, gotten done. I say if you want to REALLY progress, then you INCLUDE the guy that most of your supporters feel is a bigoted radical moron for his "SIDES" cause. If everybody agreed on everything in the cabinet, that, IMHO is NOT a legitimate government.

Of course, having the feelings that I do on the whole matter, would probably have me labeled a homophobe on DU like I had been labeled before for speaking out on such matters.

I understand this pick ALSO pissed off some of the right wingers for whatever retarded reason there is on that side of the perspective.

Well actually even though I didn't want Hillary as president she was a good pic for foreign affairs. She's been around the block and I think she will be good in the job although I was happy with Condelessa.

John Kerry didn't get any seat, thats a good thing!

Ooo... I'm all tingly with trepedations from this post. (Please note sarcasm as it is so hard to convey over the web.)

Yes! As a conservative, I am super fukken pissed about Rick Warren's appointment to lead the inaugural prayer!

I'm Catholic! The Royal Fukken Family of the Democratic Party, the Kennedys, is Catholic. When will the insanity end?

WASPs are exactly what is wrong with this world.

Dear lord help us all!

(Please note more sarcasm.)

On the serious tip, when will this heathen ritual end? I was kind of, half-hoping Obama would be the first to do away with the prayer.

I just hope some day, they find a religious leader who is pro-gay rights/anti-gay rights, pro-choice/pro-life and pro-death penalty/anti-death penalty so everyone can be happy and we don't have to listen to this petty drivel.

Did I miss any other issues the "perfect" pastor would have to be both for and against?

My God it's not like the guy is going to be in the White House writing policy for Obama. He's saying a frickin' prayer.

No matter who it is, what their qualifications are, their race, their creed, their alliances, their political party, no matter their stance on the issues of the day, no matter if their bald, or fat, or missed a spot shaving... there will always be some group or some one with something to say about it.

It's usually the blacks, but this time it's the fags. Oh well...

His name will be "Father Reverend Rabbi Ayatollah Sheik Oxy Moron"

Oxy Moron will at once call Wez to his group of advisors, because all hypocrites must unite under a common banner and then join a different church.

I heard Rick Warren ends all his prayers with, "Ya'll be good!".

I am a bit confused why Obama didn't pick HIS pastor to lead this prayer.

Not meaning Jeremiah Wright, but the guy who replaced Wright when he retired. I mean, after all, isn't that who is Obama's spiritul leader now?

The fact is you have to govern toward the center in a democracy. Otherwise you will lose the next election. The best a righty or lefty can hope for is a man who can effectively move the political center in their direction. Only one President has been able to move the political center in my lifetime; that was Reagan.

Because he isn't much better. He still teaches racist black liberation theology.

At least, that's what the claim would be.

Do you have a better explanation?

I know if that were me, Ii would want the person that has actually been my spiritual advisor, my spiritual teacher, my spiritual leader to be the one to do the inaugural prayer. Not some guy I have only met a few times...

I don't/wont ever go to church, sir. Mobs aint too bright whether it's a church or any other organized thought control..

Calling me a hypocrite is one thing.. proving it is another..

Please explain.

Here's what we can do.. first we'll come to a common understanding as to what exactly is a hypocrite, as there seems to be some descrepency... Then we'll see why I'm a hypocrite because you don't like me and think I should either shut up or say things to please you for some unexplained reason..

So, in your words... A hypocrite is __________________.

Then, Wez is a hypocrite because__________________.

Lemme know when you're ready.. I'll be here watching the Vikes kick your Falcons sorry asses all over the field.

Wez is a hypocrite because he is a hypocrite.

Ooo... baiting me with a Falcons reference. I'm all a-flutter. Take away Adrian Peterson, the Vikes have nothing!

And now you have forced me to derail the thread, motherfukker.

Nothing in there says anything about separation of church and state. It seems you should try reading it once.

Perhaps you should read to me where I said that it said that in the constitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So tell me how that applies to the Presidential inaugeration.

Seems to me it only applies to Congress making laws establishing a religion or preventing someone like Pastor Warren or President-elect Obama from practicing any religion they want to, and say so anywhere as long as it's peacably.

It doesn't seem that Congress has made any law by having this reading.

Freedom of Religion - he can have his inaugaration blessed by whomever he damn well pleases. If he doesn't want a prayer said, he doesn't have to.
