ImWithStupid Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Woo hoo!!! Posted April 06, 2009 Happiness Index: Nebraska Nabs Top Spot By Stephen Dalton The folks in Nebraska are happier than you. The state that brought you "Kool-Aid? and ?CliffsNotes? and the world?s richest person, Warren Buffett (Stock Quote: BRK.A), is feeling better off than the rest of us, according to MainStreet.com?s new Happiness Index. We all know that money alone can?t buy happiness, but having a job, home and enough money to cover your basic budgetary needs is a good start. The Cornhusker state was awarded the top ranking because: It ranked 2nd overall in lowest number of foreclosures It ranked 2nd in lowest unemployment rate It ranked 5th in lowest percentage of non-mortgage debt by income The Happiness Index, which looks at household income, debt, employment and foreclosures, is a fresh take on the old and tired Misery Index, made popular in the 1970s. The Misery Index takes into account unemployment and inflation rates and seeks to identify the most financially miserable places to live. The Happiness Index, on the other hand, is all about which states are best weathering the current economic storm. Happiness Index: Nebraska Nabs Top Spot | News | Money/Investing | Mainstreet Quote

Ahhlee Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Congratulations! Way to go! And although you sport some shiny happy people in NE and your side boob is heralded as a state treasure, I am SO not moving there. Don't cry, IWS.......don't cry. Quote
jokersarewild Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Hm...I live near the Emerald Triangle (wiki that biznatch) and within short driving distance of beaches full of hot chicks. It's getting warmer and hot chicks are going to want to wear less and less. California has the ol' "California Girls". So... Yeah, you TOTALLY live in the happiest state in the union, or whatever your silly, non-California-related claim you make. Quote RoyalOrleans is my real dad!

Oh yea, you do pay people to live there, that's why your state is so fukkin' broke. We'd rather pay our own way here. It's called self reliance which leads to self respect. 1 Quote
Chi Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 ...I am SO not moving there. I think I'll pass, too. The middle of nowhere with nothing to do doesn't = happiness for me either. No offense:p I'd also like to know who these judges were... Quote

ImWithStupid Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 To be honest. No offense, but I wouldn't want people from California, Illinois or other places to come here. Because then we would end up being the same as those places. Ask natives from Montana, Utah, Idaho, etc... who have had a big influx of people fleeing the liberal high tax mentality of those places. They bring their liberal high tax mentality with them and try to change things to be like the same place they just fled. That's what happened to Colorado over the past 30 years. Quote

Liberal high tax mentality? lol. Um, no one likes high taxes besides politicians. Also, not all of IL is the same. All of the places that are far from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs here are VERY different. There are a lot of farms, middle of nowhere places, even the accents are very different. Quote

Kind of hard to expand government without raising taxes for too long. It has already been done for 8 years running and look what we got to show for it. Oh I don't know about that.... Sometimes when I play bingo, I use a flashy purple dauber! On occasion, I eat supper at 6:08 instead of 6:00! I don't always wear socks with my boots! Every once in awhile, I like to jazz up my ham with cloves! AND this one time, while I was driving, I waved at someone I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW!!!!! Seriously, I'm cri-zazy! When I bring it....it's on. So she can torture you I just might have to join you girls, Chi. I love my town, I love my state, however I am a little more than pissed off at the amount of northeastern insurgents down here. They move down here to take advantage of our mild winters, our easy lifestyle, and totally phukk it up. You want to know why the South is labeled with white trash? They aren't southerners; we're hillbillies, hicks, and rednecks, but we ain't white trash. Oh no... it's the human compost heaps wandering down from the Northeast into our society. Rude motherphukkers. I literally had to change my professional language to downright cursing at a customer last week. He didn't like my USMC flag hanging over one of the bays. Do you believe that I was called a baby-killer by this douchebag insurgent from Pitt? I thought Pitt was a blue collar city. Phukker...
