Guest NewsBot Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama cited his own long struggle to quit the cigarettes he took up as a teenager as he signed the nation's strongest-ever anti-smoking bill Monday and praised it for providing critically needed protections for future generations.... Ahhlee Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 A Letter To Obama: Dear Mr. President, Cold turkey. That's the best way to do it. Fukk twelve step programs, nicotine patch, the gum, etc.. don't ween yourself off of them. Quit. Now. For good. Sincerely, RO I wish my dad would quit. He came by to visit me while I was working this morning and was helping me with a few projects. He was there for roughly 2 hours and I know he must have smoked at least 6 cigarettes in that short amount of time. I'm starting to think I make him nervous. My 3 year old nephew LOVES to play with "Ba-pa" and when my dad steps out to smoke, he tells Jacob that his cigarettes are "yucky". Jacob says, "Ba-pa, then throw it in the garbage so we can play!".....smart kid. It's sad because I know we're going to lose him early. Unfortunately he'll never get the chance to walk me down the aisle, but at least I can make him proud by finishing my schooling and getting settled into a new career....hopefully he lasts long enough to see it. Kids have intuition beyond their years. It was my niece who encouraged me to quit. timesjoke Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I was also a smoker for a very long time. I got fully hooked in the Army where I could get a carton for $5. I always knew my habit was not a 'good' habit and even refused to smoke in my house or around my children. For me quitting was not possible until one day I was very sick and severely conjested, just regular breathing was a chore but I dragged myself out back to smoke and finally understood how stupid I was for letting myself live the life of addiction. I also went cold turkey, I believe that is the best way, but then again, do we really want our President to be suffereing from nicotine withdrawal with his finger on "the button"? Quote

I'm not the biggest Obama fan at all, but I have to go out on a limb here to say that I believe he has a wee bit more sense than that. I would hope so, but being more irratable or worse is a common complaint for those who are quitting. I was going to the extreme with "the button" but there are many ways a President might behave differently in that situation. Maybe? Quote

timesjoke Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Maybe he'll smack Michelle around a bit? If your looking for my opinion I think she could use some well placed smacks But I digress, one can only hope that there is no bad results from Obama quitting, if anything his increased stress now might make quitting impossible. ImWithStupid Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Maybe he'll smack Michelle around a bit? No. That's why they got the dog, so he can kick it instead of beating the family. The first lady with a shiner, won't make a good pic on the cover of US or People magazine. Quote
timesjoke Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 No. That's why they got the dog, so he can kick it instead of beating the family. The first lady with a shiner, won't make a good pic on the cover of US or People magazine. Well he now has the resources of the CIA at his disposal, I am sure he can get lots of instruction on how to both relieve stress on his wife and not leave any visible evidence, lol. Besides, more people would get upset if he kicked his dog than if he beat his wife, I am sure he could talk his way out of beating his wife. Quote

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I didn't mean to imply that they would report on it. I meant what would they do if they couldn't put a new pick of Michelle on the cover. They wouldn't have a cover pic, because it seems she's the only person that exists by how often she and her husband are on the cover of those rags. Quote
Ahhlee Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Don't you people know that you can relieve stress through sex????? Is smacking the old lady around and kicking the dog really necessary? I'm sure Obama could find a willing intern to Abraham his Lincoln if he needed a bit of relief. It's not like it hasn't been done before. Quote

Let's just hope his standards a little better than the last Democratic President who was looking for some relief....can we remind him that some of the previous Presidents had women like Marilyn Monroe to show off? timesjoke Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 hey now, I'd have no issue with Monica Abrahamming my Lincoln... EEWWWWW!!!!!! Yuck. That cow? Her behind was twice as wide as Bills'. I'm sorry but you have no idea how many guys I know from other Countries that all gave me a hard time over the lack of standards our American President had when choosing women to have affairs with, what was the name of the lady with the monster nose? Bill would hit anything, he had not one single standard past breathing. If Obama does have an affair, I just hope he can raise the bar a little. Have a little pride in the office of President for goodness sake, lol. Quote

Well TJ, when you become President feel free to exhume Marylin's corpse so you can impress your overseas buddies with your hot lady on the side. I find it interesting that you're more concerned with how hot Bill's secret fuk was than the fact that he was cheating on his wife and doing it on the tax payer's time....???? Different moral strokes for different folks, eh? Quote

Different moral strokes for different folks, eh? Not really just trying to keep it light and add a little humor to it. You mentioned him having the affair, not me, I just added to it I hope he makes a better choice than Bill. No I did not like it when the story about Bill came out, I felt it lowered the respect of his office, but what do I do about that? If he had not said "I did not have sex with that woman" I might not have cared as much, Clearly few even cared about his lies so I may as well joke about it right? eddo, Don't get me wrong, she was not horrible or anything, but she was very heavy and not attractive in an exceptional way, just sort of frumpy. My point is that as the most powerful political figure on the planet, he should have been capable of landing much better. Quote
hugo Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Have ya seen a pick of Larry Sinclair? He makes Monica look pretty damn good. Maybe she touched his heart and made him feel like a real man. Maybe she couldn't get enough of Billy's willy and sucked him off with the enthusiasm and finesse of a porn star....we don't know. Obviously she had something about her that he found attractive or he wouldn't have picked her to have a dalliance with. To each their own. Quote
