phreakwars Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I'm sure some of you have heard of a Jello pudding cake. There are all kinds of recipes for them around the Internet. My 4th of July version this year is gonna be a White cake, Blue Jello, and Red tinted lemon pudding. But, anyways.. while browsing the other day for my July 4th bbq menu, I came across one for a Cookie cake pie. So yeah, had to try me some of that. So I made one today. Unfortunately, it won't survive a 4 day wait till the 4th of July, but on the flip side, It was a damn awesome recipe and we all enjoyed devouring it in ten minutes flat. Now, I don't have a set recipe to post (too lazy to copy and paste), but I can provide the URL to the instructions. CakeSpy: Triple Threat: The Cookie Cake Pie Did mine the exact same way, sprinkle cake and all. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
emkay64 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Blue jello in cake? Does desert really have to be red, white and blue? Just serve Astropops. Quote
phreakwars Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 You can do whatever color you desire in a Jello pudding cake. Like use lemon jello and pistachio for white yellow green, or a strawberry cake with, strawberry jello and strawberry frosting. Then there is choclate with cherry jello and chocolate pudding... I'm gonna have to try different combinations with the cookie cake pie as well. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
emkay64 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 So is it like jelly in the cake or does the flavored jello just flavor the cake batter? Pudding I understand...it's the jiggly jello part that is weirding me out. Quote
phreakwars Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 It pretty much just adds flavor, it needs to be jello because it will solidify after going into the holes you poke in the cake. It's a quite interesting cake, you should try it sometime. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
Ahhlee Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Interesting! I'm thinking a banana pudding cake with chocolate frosting would be delish. Quote
mercury Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I've had it made with actual jello, too... not the pudding, the fruity stuff, with a cool whip toping. It was pretty good, but not so out of this world that I bothered trying to recreate it myself. You don't really notice that it's the jiggly stuff because it mostly soaks into and is surrounded by cake. Quote
