Just wondering.

 

The whole world seemed to be wrapped up in that spectacle from Los Angeles - the memorial service for Michael Jackson.

 

I'm just wondering how many American servicemen killed protecting our country were buried yesterday.

 

Which is more important? Something worth thinking about.

 

Where are the Cindy Sheehans of this country? Where is Code Pink?

 

I think the more pertinent question is WHERE THE FUKK is the media coverage? During the Bush years, the mainstream media had a ticker scrolling across the bottom of their broadcast screen for an up-to-the minute report on the number of dead in Iraq.

 

Now that those numbers have served their purpose--to demonize Bush--they are inconvenient. Do you know how many troops have died since Obama has been in office?

 

Over 200 now, and how many have you heard about? My guess would be the one whose parents are confused over the MJ coverage, is the only soldier KIA that has made the national news in a good long while.

Well again you answer your own questions.

 

The liberal media is in bed with the Obama. They will never report against him the way they did against Bush because they have lost their integrity.

 

 

As far as MJ is concerned, well I agree with you my friend, but this culture is stuck on things like this as being important. What do we do?

That's very true, RO. You don't hear much about the fallen soldiers anymore.

I don't think there's anyone I've encountered on the net, despite epic battles that have transpired between myself and them, who I couldn't meet face to face and break bread or chug a beer with and not find some sort of commonality to bind us.

I think I am the same way, some may not want to break bread with me but I only had one incident where I let someone on the internet get under my skin and I will never let that happen again......life is too short to take stuff over the internet to heart.

 

You might have thought I was joking about letting you stay at my river house but I wasn't. You are a tough person to get along with sometimes I will admit that, but I know your not really that different from me, maybe too much alike in a few ways ;)

Michael Jacksons funeral cost of 2.5 mil divided by 4,000 soldiers would be $625 per soldier.

War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things. The degraded state of moral and partiotic feelings is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing for which he will sacrifice his daily comforts, is a miserable creature who will never truely be free unless made and kept so by the exersions and sacrifices of better men than himself.

Oh complain complain. If it would have been Chuck Norris' funeral, you'd have right wingers declaring the flag should be flown at half staff.

 

Soldiers may die serving their country, but they will never get the recognition that celebrity's get because they are only known by family and friends. It's not Michael Jacksons fault so many devoted fans wanted a chance to worship the guy, which in turn, required security forces.

 

Hell, if I died serving my country, I don't want a big hoopla event honoring me. Just a simple funeral with family, including armed forces brothers, (no friends), and someone to keep away the WBC.

 

No amount of loyal "fans" could ever feel the loss by the people in your family. And I for one, wouldn't care how my fans felt.
