I went to a bike show back in April with my brother in law. The first bike as you walk in was this. Well that was my first set of wheels so I told my brother in law to take a picture of it.

.

It's a Hodaka Combat Wombat 125. My dad bought it for me when is was 15 years old. Well when the picture is blown up I noticed the dent on the top right hand corner of the gas tank.

That is my bike!!! The very same one!

I can't believe it! What are the odds? Anyway what was your first set?

I used to take the spark arrestor out of the exhaust to make it louder. My dad would get pissed and buy another one. After the second one he said I wasn't getting it back if I lost that one. I think he figured out my game. :D

I sold it becuse it needed a magnito that we couldn't find.

First car was a '62 Chevy Impala four door HT POS. 327, automatic. First new car - 0 miles on the clock - was a medium metallic green, 1971 Dodge Charger. 383, four speed.

Plymouth stopped production of the Barracuda after 74' (worst year to have BTW).

I had a 73', wasn't my first car, but it was my fav.

I'm not sure what year it was. My friend that built it up put in a 454 engine in it. We had to beat he wheel wells out to get the engine in. It was a rattle trap though LOL. I used take off at a stop light using just the brakes or it would lay scatch. It looked good but we never got it to stop shaking. It was a death trap in the winter.

The only thing I hated about mine, was also the winter. I had 14x60 tires. Getting up the viaduct when it was snow packed was a bitch. All I'd do is spin.

I'm not good with the years but I had an Impala II and then an Impala III both with a 383. I was coming from a party in my Impala II when I told my friends I could peg her out at 115 Mph. They called bull and being as drunk and stoned as I was I called them on it. So I put her to the floor and did it (I was going down a very steep hill) They were freaking out and yelling at me " We believe you!". Just another story where I almost died.

Was it a Monza or something? I can't think of much other that would take a Chevy big block and need to be "fit".

No what do you mean? It was the Barracuda that we put that engine in. Like I said nothing was quite right with it other than you could die easily with it. He put a 454 and I think it was a hemi. We had to beat the wheel wells in to make it fit.

383, Chrysler product again. Pretty sure you meant 350.

Enjoy the SoCo. Wish I could join you, but gotta work in the morning. EARLY.

Chevy also had a 383. It was basically a 350 with a longer stroke and a slightly bigger bore, the bigger bore caused overheating problems though because it was too close to the water jackets, so it was scrapped. I think it was a police interceptor engine if I remember correctly. I know you can still get kits to convert your 350 to a 383.

I think the Fury III was the old cop car style.

I haven't done one in over 10 no make that 15 years, but before I went geek, I used to be into horsepower. That's the main reason I like MOPAR. I've done rebuilds on all the big 3 engines. MOPAR is absolutely my favorite to work on. I used to research all kinds of engines. My all time favs are the Ford 289, the Chevy 327, and the MOPAR 340. Those 3 are IMO, the BEST engines to build up for the money because you can squeeze so much out of them without breaking the bank, and since they are all small blocks, they fit in most anything.

I can still remember the 327 we put into my cousin's Monza. Such a tiny car, but damn it screamed so fast, you could actually make the front end come up on it when you took off. Never did get to do what I wanted to do with my first car though (76' Ford Mustang II), I wanted to throw a 289 in that puppy.

He he yeah my brother had a 76 Mustang. Al my oldest brother took my other brothers Triumph 750 bike so we decided to take his Mustang out for a ride. Al was so pissed that when he came up to the house he popped a wheely with Bobs Triumph and and then let it go. Oh man! LMAO. That was one of those days I got out of the way between my two brothers. LOL. :D You have to understand my brothers are 5 and 4 years older than me. I was used to just getting out of the way.
