WASHINGTON - Employers throttled back on layoffs in July, cutting just 247,000 jobs, the fewest in a year, and the unemployment rate dipped to 9.4 percent. It was a better than expected showing that offered a strong signal that the recession is finally ending. The Labor Department's report was better than many analysts were expecting. They were forecasting job losses to slow to around 320,000 and the unemployment rate to tick up to 9.6 percent, from 9.5 percent in June.

If laid-off workers who have given up looking for new jobs or have settled for part-time work are included the unemployment rate would have been 16.3 percent.

The government reported last week that the economy shrank at a pace of just 1 percent from April-to-June, the strongest signal yet that the recession may be ending.

AH-HA!! This PROVES without a doubt Obama was lying, he said things would get worse!!

I will brush off your attempt to dodge my point and say again, Obama promised us 8% unemployment if we rushed through his stimulus bill without anyone reading it. So that is our benchmark for Obama's success. We have gotten worse, not better with everything Obama has done. When we get back to the 8% Obama has promised America, then we will see what America has paid for all of Obama's failings.

 

 

Obama took this job and made his promises based on all the information, he knows about stuff nobody else in the world knows about so he is the best informed and made his promises based on his being more informed than anyone else. This is 100% his baby now, he had the power to make any changed he wanted without anyone fighting him and he decided the "free ride" he wanted was this stimulus bill.........

He "PROMISED" 8%? When was this? I seem to recall him saying it could reach that number or even higher. I like how you pick and choose what you want to hear. So it goes higher then expected, it's HIS fault, we see a decline... IT'S NOT. You REALLY DO think he is a Messiah don't you? I mean, you say it enough. You obviously expect an INSTANT gratification for the stimulus money used. Yet you complain that only a small percentage of it has actually gotten out there. Oh and your SOOO much smarter then I am, I wanna know how you even remotely expect ANYBODY in the world to pull off that miracle.

 

Go ahead and stick with your "SOCIALIST" buzz words too. You should be a little more committed to using it and give up any V.A. and GOVERNMENT RAN MILITARY HEALTH CARE you and your son are entitled to. Yes, set a good example for your son whos in the military, teach him about the "BIG BAD SOCIALISM" and tell him to forfeit his Goverment ran military health care. Be sure to forfeit your medicare and social security as well. Start a new trend, show us "LIBERALS" that your not gonna have any part of that socialism. Where in the constitution does it say us taxpayers have to pay for military's health? THAT'S SOCIALISM.

I didn't avoid any question, you didn't ask a question. You somehow believe anyone who does not blindly follow Obama like a zombie they somehow do not deserve their earned benefits. I and my son "earn" VA benefits as part of our military service, it is part of our "benefits package".

 

 

But, do not think for one second that I am relying on the Government for my retirement. I am 43, there will not be a Social Security program by the time I would be ready to use it anyway, it is bankrupt. Obama should be trying to repair our existing programs instead of just stacking up one bad program on top of another like firewood.
