Ahhlee Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Oh, here's the recipe for fancy meatloaf. I dunno....I'm guessing at the measurements but it should work ok: 1/2 lb ground sirloin 1/2 lb ground hamburger 1 egg 1 cup diced white bread (fresh) 1 cup milk 1 box frozen spinach (thaw it out) 1 jar Prego spaghetti sauce (I used meat flavor) 1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs 1 package sliced Provolone cheese 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 tsp sea salt ....... First I cut up the bread and put that in a bowl with the milk to let it soak in. Then I mix together the sirloin, hamburger, egg, 1/2 the jar of Prego, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp sea salt, most of the Italian bread crumbs (leave a little bit to sprinkle on top while it's baking) and the milk drenched bread. Once you have that all mixed, pull out some plastic wrap and spread the mixture out on it. I bake mine in a bread pan, so I just make sure it's the same width as my pan. I'll usually spread a thin amount of Prego sauce on it, then the spinach, and then the sliced Provolone. Roll that sucker up like a jelly roll and plop it in the bread pan. I spray it with Pam, first. Then I add some more Prego on top, and more Provolone cheese slices. I bake it at 350, and it seems to me it takes about an hour. When it's ready, I take it out, add a sprinkling of the Italian bread crumbs on top, crank the oven to broil and let the cheese get nice and golden brown. It's a hearty meal for sure, but I've never had any complaints when I've served it. It's good on a sandwich the next day, too. And don't be scared of the spinach, snaffy!!!!!! It'll put hair on your chest. Quote
timesjoke Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 Sounds good, I might substitute some ground venison for the hamburger though, I grind it with some beef fat when I package it. Quote
RoyalOrleans Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I once mixed newborn puppy meat with newborn kitten meat and got so incredibly sick to my stomach! Quote To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man. - Ric Flair Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science.
timesjoke Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 I once mixed newborn puppy meat with newborn kitten meat and got so incredibly sick to my stomach! That is because the mixture is toxic, next time mix in a little baby seal and you will be fine Quote
RoyalOrleans Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 One time, I bit the head off a cow. Milk shot out from its neck. Quote To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man. - Ric Flair Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science.
