Two of my babies are gone.

I had someone interested in adopting two of my cats, and even though it's earlier than I planned to give them away, I figured I'd better take the opportunity while it presented itself. So tonight I took Scratchy and Miss Kitty over to a new home with a mom and two daughters. I brought lots of treats, food bowls and their favorite toys to help the transition. The girls seemed very excited to greet them so I hope they will be cared for and loved.

I've had Scratchy for 7 years since he was a kitten and Miss Kitty I adopted 2 summers ago after she was found in my sister-in-law's wheel well. Scratchy slept right by my side every night. He was my little cuddler and tonight it is going to be very strange not having him there.

I still have Itchy, but he's kind of a loner. Possibly he'll be more affectionate now that the others are gone?

It's amazing how much we grow to love our pets and how much a part of our lives they become, isn't it?

:( :( :( :(

Scratchy is the black and white tuxedo cat and Itchy is the orange and white. Miss Kitty is the little gray one.

I always kind of suspected that Itchy and Scratchy were gay.

Pardon my ignorance but don't you guys up north have Korean restaurants to take your unwanted cats to?

;)

Good morning, TJ. Thanks for the compassion. You should write a book on it!

In fact, may I suggest the following title: "The Art of Circular Arguments and Kicking People in the Teeth When They're Down".

I'm sure it'll be a hit.

Aww... You're a brave, strong woman, Ali. I wish you comfort and peace during this difficult time. I know it must've been really hard, but it had to be done:( I hope they get along really well with their new family. At least they got to stay together. I'm sure that helps a lot. It will probably make their bond stronger:)

Awww....I love that you found a family though. Most just wisk them off to the SPCA and let someone adopt them...or not :( I'm glad you found them a nice home.

They have kids...so I'm guessing the first night was fighting over who gets which kitty to sleep with lol. Don't worry...I bet it will be great for them.

I am actually writing that book now, you must be a mind reader.......

Common Ali, I was just joking, notice the wink I added?

As often as you guys talk crap about having to add a "timesjoke" disclaimer, it seems your just as incapable of seeing me try to joke with you as you claim I am.

If the cats died or something I would never said something like that but you found them a good home, they will be taken care of, your missing them but you will make it through this, hell your too tough to let this get you down for long.

I am sorry you took my comment as bad, I didn't mean it that way.

Awww Ali.. that couldn't of been easy.. sounds like you found a nice home for them though.. Nice the two could stay together.. :)

Thanks, wez.

Yeah, Itchy is having a hard time adjusting. He hardly leaves my side and he keeps looking around for his buddies. I feel bad now because he's lonely. :(

give him a big load of catnip and he'll forget he ever had roomies ;)

Yeah, I've been spoiling him out of guilt...lol!

I told my mom yesterday that Scratchy was gone and SHE cried! She loved that cat, too. Then I cried because she was crying.

Gad! Stupid feelings.

Pets are family, no shame in being a compassionate person. Cry away lol.

I bawled when I had to put ol' Geddy (an homage to Geddy Lee of Rush) down and then I got Rowdy (An homage to Roddy Piper.) and he was bit by a cottonmouth and died from the venom.

Now its just Bizmark and me, we're doing an off off Broadway musical on our life together.

couple weeks ago I had to put my mastiff/chow mix Buffy (after Buff Bagwell) down. She had lymphoma, and yes, I balled my eyes out. I had her 10 years, and putting her down was about the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

Occasionally Buddy, my black lab, will run through the house looking for her, and it breaks my heart. He, too, has been rather spoiled since I put Buffy down.- lots of cookies, and those big rawhide chew bones. He misses her a lot, and it is very evident in the way he behaves. I got Buddy as a puppy, and Buffy has been around his whole life. It's hard on both of us. :(

I'm trusted by more women.

Hell, even I cried over those two passings! Poor babies. :(

They are! I'm lucky that I'm finding good homes for mine. I feel like sh!t because I'm leaving them behind but I just can't see it being feasible to take them with me, especially when I'm going to be living like a nomad for awhile.

Once I do finally get settled somewhere, I'm getting a Corgi and another cat. :)

Awwww eddo, I'm so sorry. hugs

And I don't care what anyone says....animals DO feel things like loss, loneliness and sadness. They really do.

When we put down our old Tom cat...Sam...my other cat would lie in the spot I took him from the night we had him put down for two weeks straight. They feel loss too for sure.

Sorry to hear Eddo :(.

Yes! Itchy is now sleeping in Scratchy's spot. He was curled up on my left side all night which is completely out of character for him. It was comforting for me, but I still know he's sad and so am I.

all of you are making me cry.

My condolences on the loss of all these pets.... I know how hard it is to give them up, either because of life circumstances, accidents or failing health... the reason doesn't matter so much; they become part of our lives and leave a hole when they're gone.

I still miss Mars, and he's been gone for 7 years. Jupiter not so much... I miss him, but I don't miss him pooping in my bed!

My brother's "defective" chocolate lab, Thor (defective because he was born yellow), was hit by a car last winter and I bawled my eyes out. My brother berated me for it... said I didn't need to bother because I didn't even know him. Oh really? Then why am I the only one that had pictures of him? huh??

Pets do truly become a part of you and when they suddenly aren't there, it feels like you lost a limb or some other vital part of your being.

I'm headed out to mooch some pets right now.... I love that silly border collie & stinky shi tzu, even though they aren't mine.
