Ahhlee Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I had a spiritual moment yesterday. While we were riding on the river on my dad's boat, my nephew was up front with my brother pretending he was "King of the World"! He was having so much fun and he kept looking back and saying, "Faster, Gwampa! Faster!!!!" At one point he looked back, the breeze blowing in his blonde hair, his blue eyes wide and bright, and his little face absolutely beamed. The expression of pure happiness on his cherubic features was priceless. And my heart was absolutely filled with joy. I realized that one can go through life collecting "things" to make them happy. Sure, nice cars, a beautiful home, fine jewelry, exotic vacations, carnal pleasures....they can make one feel good and feel important, but bringing joy to another, especially a child, trumps all of that in spades. It seems fate has determined that I won't have children of my own, but I can surely take pleasure in watching the innocent wonder in the faces of my niece and nephew, and any other child who I have the honor of knowing. And even making another grown up person who I care about smile makes me happy, too! Naturally, the true meaning of life is subjective for everyone, but I think yesterday I found mine. Quote

timesjoke Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I believe the spark of a child is truly the thing that makes our lives special. As Ali says, we can have everything and nothing at the same time. Everything as far as money can go, and nothing as far as real life is concerned. It is the time we share with another person, the life we share with those we love, and the real 'magic' that our children bring to our lives that truly is everything that gives lasting meaning to our life. emkay64 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 The Meaning of Life--- M-hmm. Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations. And, finally, here are some completely gratuitous pictures of penises to annoy the censors and to hopefully spark some sort of controversy, which, it seems, is the only way, these days, to get the jaded, video-sated public off their ing arses and back in the sodding cinema. Family entertainment? Bollocks. What they want is filth: people doing things to each other with chainsaws during tupperware parties, babysitters being stabbed with knitting needles by gay presidential candidates, vigilante groups strangling chickens, armed bands of theatre critics exterminating mutant goats. Where's the fun in pictures? Oh, well, there we are. Here's the theme music. Goodnight. Quote
emkay64 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 The Meaning of Life?---- Yeah, I've had a team working on this over the past few weeks, and what we've come up with can be reduced to two fundamental concepts. One: People aren't wearing enough hats. Two: Matter is energy. In the universe there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this "soul" does not exist ab initio as orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into existence by a process of guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia. Quote
RoyalOrleans Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 The meaning of life? Eat. Fukk. Die. And in between the punishment of it all; have a little fun and enjoy a healthy morning sh!t. Hack Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 the reason for life is the living, so I live my life within reason. the joy of the gift is the giving, so I give my gifts out of season. I know nothing of the great beyond, I accept my fate. we'll all get there, it won't be long, I can wait. I think someday I'll know what I need, and I'll get it. but until then I'm content to just breathe and forget it. 1 Quote
