atlantic Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Well today is my son's first playdate with a buddy from school. I met his mom at school while volunteering, and my son and Sammy are best buds. We finally agreed to a visit, but didn't know why his mom insisted my son play over there. So I went with him and went inside to meet family. Turns out they are Mormon. Also turns out that's where he's been getting the mormon religious stickers. I'm a little nervous I have to admit. I'm used to every religion but that one. The only Mormon people I've known are ex-communicated ones and the stories haven't been good. Has anyone here had any Mormon experiences they can share? I need to pass the time and not drive by there every 2 minutes - Help Quote Do the right thing!
emkay64 Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 They are probably just playing. I wouldn't be concerned at all. If he has questions he'll ask. Relax...baptism, weird underwear and head shaving don't happen until the second play date. Quote

The only problem I had was when I arrived, the kids were playing out front with bb guns, no glasses on either. I specifically told the mom I don't allow him to play outside alone without adult supervision and she said they wouldn't. She has a beautiful huge gated backyard. She also had no idea they were out there Quote Do the right thing!

eddo Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 all the Mormons I have ever known were very nice and great family people. Family is very high on their priority list. If they are pushing their religion on you or your son though, ask them nicely to knock it off, and if they don't- sacrifice a goat in their front yard to "Exercise the demons!!!!!!!!!!!!" Quote I'm trusted by more women.

eddo Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 LOL, you're kidding about the goat right Eddo kidding??? in my book, it's ok for one family or kid to invite another to church, or church activities. But if they start sending stuff home everytime he goes over to play (without you requesting it) then a goat needs to die. Growing up, one of my best friends was Mormon. His family was great. loved going to their house, but never did they push their religion on me. They would answer my questions if I asked, but never forced a thing. I could never be Mormon anyway though. I need caffeine too much. Quote I'm trusted by more women.

RegisteredAndEducated Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I can't be mormon... The South Park Mormon episode ruined mormonism for me forever. Quote Intelligent people think... how ignorance must be bliss.... idiots have it so easy, it's not fair... to have to think... WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO BE AMONG THOSE FORTUNATE MASSES..... Hey, "Non-believers" I've just got one thing to say to ya... If you're right, then what difference does it make, it wont matter when we're dead anyway... But if I'm right... Well, hey... Ya better be right...
ImWithStupid Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 This whole story reminded me of the South Park episode. Just a note, Matt and Trey from South Park are Mormons. All About the Mormons? - Episode Guide - South Park Studios Quote

ImWithStupid Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Really? I thought Matt was Jewish. My bad. Trey was raised Mormon. Matt's mother is Jewish but he grew up agnostic, from what I've found. Quote
