My friends and I were having a condiment discussion earlier this week while we were having lunch together. It's funny how a basic sandwich can become an entirely different dining experience for each person when you factor in the condiments that an individual prefers.

How do you like to dress up these basic sandwiches?:

1) Hamburger

2) Tuna

3) Ham

4) Turkey

1) Hamburger - Cheese can change depending on the day but lettice, tomato, onion, mayo and ketchup.

2) Tuna - Usually a tuna melt with american cheese, nothing else.

3) Ham - many variations, simple is just with mayo and baby swiss but also can have the 'salad' added.

4) Turkey - same as ham.

What seems to be the real challenge in my circles is getting someone to decide where we are going for lunch, lol.

1) Hamburger - I like a whole wheat bun, swiss cheese, bacon, mayo, ketchup, sliced pickles, crispy lettuce and a nice thick slice of tomato!

2) Tuna - When I make tuna salad, I like mayo, onions minced VERY fine, diced celery and lots of cracked black pepper. On a cold day, I put it on a bun with a slice of American cheese and bake it in the oven for awhile until the cheese melts.

3) Ham - I like Ham and swiss on rye! I like a little mayo, honey mustard and tomato, but I don't care for lettuce on this sandwich for some reason.

4) Turkey - If it's a roasted turkey from the oven at home, I just slap it on some bread and drizzle a little leftover gravy on it...that's it. If it's deli turkey, I like mayo, lettuce, very light yellow mustard, tomato and cucumber slices.

Now I'm getting hungry! :)

1) Hamburger - Cheddar or Montery Jack, bacon, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and I can go either way on pickles. Bun isn't all that important, as I love to put them on my low carb tortillas, or an official hamburger bun.

2) Tuna - bleech.

3) Ham - Not a big fan of ham on it's own. Add turkey, pastrami, salami, or some other meat to it, and I am good with it. mustard, lettuce, tomato, and I'm good

4) Turkey - honey mustard, lettuce, tomato, and again, I prefer more meats with it, but I can handle turkey on it's own. adding a bit of Italian dressing is nice too. I also like cooking up leftover turkey with bbq sauce and making a sandwich out of that. mmmmmmm!!

Not a big fan of mayo on sandwiches.

There really are a ton of ways that I eat most of these sandwiches... So I will give a couple of ways... (These are sandwiches that are only ham or turkey, not combos.)

1) a) Hamburger - Pretty standard. Cheese, crispy bacon, crispy lettuce, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayo.

b) Hamburger - Southwest style. Cheese, crispy bacon, sauteed onions, sauteed mushrooms, bar-b-q sauce.

c) Hamburger - Crispy bacon, bleu cheese, light mayo, light ketchup

2) Tuna - Do not eat fish

3) a) Ham - Standard (packaged or deli ham): Ham, cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, onion

b) Ham - Italian (Packaged or deli ham): Ham, provolone cheese, onions, oregano, Italian dressing.

c) Ham - Cooked (roasted) ham: White bread, mustard, light mayo, light salt, big thick slices of ham.

4) Turkey - I only eat turkey sandwiches with thanksgiving style roasted turkey... White bread, mayo, salt, thick slices of turkey.

I hate tuna so I'll nix that..but on all the rest load on as much veggies as I can stuff, cheese...with maybe a drizzle of ranch dressing, lots of salt and pepper...with the exception of the hamburger...I like ketchup or BBQ on that. As for Mayo..that is the most extremely foul of all condiments as is mustard, sandwich spreads, miracle whip and butter. I don't like any of that sh!t on my sammiches.

hehehe, you said sammiches

for me, it depends on what you think of as a condiment, to me they are the sauces... bacon and cheese are food groups on their own...

burgers, ketchup, mustard...I like spicy mustard... mayo and beef don't mix. sometimes I will do salsa or bbq sauce depending on the size of the burger... sometimes even horse radish.

tuna gets mayo, same with turkey

ham, I am a spicy mustard guy, again, mayo doesn't belong.

I do like a lot of different flavours, so pickles, lettuce, tomatos, bacon, cheese all have their place in each sammich.

1) Hamburger - usually no cheese but it depends on my mood, lettuce, catsup and mustard.

2) Tuna ? Mayonnaise (the real kind not Miracle whip) and sweet relish. Sweet relish makes the sandwich people.

3) Ham ? Mayonnaise but somtimes I'll get a wild hair up my ass and use just mustard.

4) Turkey ? Mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato.

Diced tomato is good, too.

Not to much into hot dogs although I'll eat them. I love those cheese bratwurst or sausage dogs. O man those suckers are good! Then you need Golden's mustard!!

I don't like a lot of stuff on my hot dogs, cause it just gets all over the place. Mustard and ketchup and I am fine.

but out here they have what is called Sonora Dogs, and they put them on Mexican sweet bread and wrap them in bacon-

HOLY COW they are amazing. :)

A&W whistle dog comes with cheese and bacon here, I believe they split the dog, stuff it with cheese and then wrap it in bacon to keep the cheese in.
