When I first heard about Casey Johnson killing herself with an apparent drug overdose, I at first did not give it much thought but for some reason my mind keeps comming back to this woman and what has happened to her.

30 years old and the only thing she was known for was being a "party girl". All the Johnson & Johnson power. money, and presteige to draw from and this is all she could do with her life?

She was reported to be in a same sex relationship with a girl named "Tila Tequila" and I just have to post what Tila twittered:

"Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson. She has passed away. Thank u for all ur love and support but I will be offline to be w family."

Sounds very warm and touching.........right?

Am I the only person in the world who has issues with this on many, many levels?

I feel sad over this.

Prolly..

I never knew she existed til she died.. Sad for sure.. but issues? On many, many levels?

You're not the judge of her life..

I meant the twitter comment from someone who was supposed to be in love with her.

Seemed very cold and disconnected to me, the kind of thing you would say about a pet dying, not someone you were going to get married to.

Then again I would most likely have more touching sentement for my pet dying too.......

You miss the point Wez, looking at the lack of accomplishment from this young woman is not meant to diminish her, she diminished herself more than I ever could. The point is to try and avoid this kind of result in ourselves, to not waste opportunities or waste our lives the way this young woman has.

Learning from mistakes made by other people is better than making the mistake yourself.

Example:

I feel more compelled to spend more time and energy with my daughter to offer her guidence and support to succeed. Letting her know that her being successful is up to her but I give her all my support to help her reach her potential.

It is hard to say for sure but I would guess that under the "party girl" exterior there must have been a lot of insecurity driving her to the self-destructive lifestyle.

It is sad to me though to see such potential wasted in the haze of drug abuse.

I felt as you TJ that the twitter msg was very short and not much emotion coming through - maybe she was high as a kite though who knows. Either way I felt bad for this woman, so beautiful and dead at such a young age :(

You're not the judge of her life..

Perhaps if someone would have been more proactive in 'judging' her, i.e. telling her how stupid she was being and how much she was wasting her life, she would still be alive. Just a thought.

Mommy and Daddy were probably too busy with their own lives.

I dunno.. I saw where her mom took care of her daughter for awhile cuz of it.. from what I saw on the news.. they tried... she was a grown woman.

I got at least two buddies currently drinking themselves to an early grave.. people have tried.. they been to treatment.. one day they'll reach their goal.. I don't judge them as wasting their life.. That's for them to decide.

From my experience, the parents only start caring after the problems show up. Then everyone looks at the 'caring' parent and says 'How could this happen with such loving parents'. Bull sh t. Probably spent the kid's childhood partying while someone else raised her.

If they aren't contributing to society, then they are leaching from it. That simply isn't acceptable.

Quite possible she was raised that way.. but no one can live someone's life for them and it ain't their fault their daughter is dead.

After Paris Hilton's "contributions", I could do without..

Not necessarily. Over and over again, more often than not, when dealing with troubled youth, a few minutes interacting with the parents, shows where the problem came from.

Rich or poor, educated or ignorant. Doesn't matter.

There are cases too, where it's a bad seed, and this is usually easily seen if there is more than one kid.

Exactly, Wez loves to say nobody should ever judge another person but without a little judging now and then, we have pure chaos.

We should be looking out for each other and making a few judgement calls to step in and try to set things right. Sitting on your hands refusing to help makes you just as bad as the person who is having issues. At least their problem could be scratched up as mental illness, your failure to act is indifference, a lack of caring for your society and fellow man, or even your own family as with these parents.

I think you hit the nail on the head right there.

"AFTER" the child has grown up all messed up they started acting like they gave a sh!t, not when the child was actually growing up and care could have made a difference.

Thank you.

Ya know..

perhaps the reason this site is practically dead has to do with the fact that a differing opinion from the majority leaves a person open to attack here. If you disagree with the majority your opinion is wrong. No room for debate or intelligent conversation. What a shame.

Bottom line is that nobody knows what role her parents played, you have zero for facts yet the judgement is made...her parents are the problem...whatever.

Have at it people. Nice to see not much has changed around here.

It isn't my place to judge whether or not someone is going to heaven or hell. I haven't done that. Judging someone is not the same as thinking their actions are destructive to themselves or society. Humans screw up, which is why I have no heroes. That doesn't mean we should sit back and watch as they do.

It's an opinion based on past experience and human nature. Other people are welcome to have other opinions based on their experiences. Just because more than one person agrees about an idea doesn't mean the person who disagrees is under attack. People are welcome to present intelligent ideas.

The site is dead because it is too nice. When people come on a debate site, they don't want to be all sunshine and roses. There is a happy medium between the idiotic 'flame wars', and the 'everyone is right so let's sing kumbyah and hug.' People shouldn't get attacked on here for being opinionated.

Like Wez was not also attacking or otherwise putting people down who were doing the judging.....right?

Face it, we all make judgements based on our own experiences in life, Wez likes to pretend he is "above" it but in reality he is just as judgemental and critical of people, just from another angle. When I asked him if he would call the cops to get his stolen property back, he said yes, that means he supports violence as long as that violence is serving him.

I don't know why you say "leaves a person open to attack here".

Here?

You can say that after the wars that have been fought at the jungle that you personally have been up to your neck in before this forum was ever created?

I think many people all over the world have let personal attacks creep into their discussions, here, at the jungle, and millions of other places. Humans love to fight. But we also love to love, interesting how the same person can be so completely different at the same time.

Anyway, as Tori pointed out, there can be many opinions of what are the most likely reasons for this young girl to have thrown away her life in drugs and other useless endevers, but taking the time to figure out the "why" might possibly lead to stopping future events like this from happeneing, even if it is just a case by case basis.

Burrying your head in the sand, refusing to see the causes or reasons for something like this will help nobody and even can make it worse.

]

Society has been turning a blind eye to things like this for a very long time, and thingsa are getting worse, maybe it is time to see some judgements being made to help instead of just sitting back watching this stuff happen with a bag of popcorn in your hand.

There is a reason certain standards of conduct are referred to as middle class values. The free market punishes those who do not behave responsibly, unless you are so poor you do not have anything to lose or so rich you don't have to worry about bringing home a paycheck. Of course, you can always lose your life. People that disagree with me are socialist Obama voters. Canadians stink!

gonna have to interject that Emkay has always been the voice of reason in the fights at the jungle, and I don't remember her ever getting involved in the nastiness there or here. I have always admired her ability to not get dragged into all the garbage that the rest of us seem to love so much, lol

I am sorry for not wording that correctly to offer my point in the right way.

What I meant was she has been fully involved in the forum and having conversations and such while at the same time there have been many, many conflicts on that forum.

So if the same behavior at the jungle does not stop her and other people from talking there, why would that be the reason to stop talking here?
