Some of Brewer's opponents say she's not a true conservative and have hit her hard for demanding a temporary increase in the state sales tax. Her campaign has seized on the immigration bill to bolster her conservative credentials.

Wow, just wow, more of the typical radical socialist blocking moves, call everyone a racist but do nothing to improve the situation.

The State is doing what it can, the Federal Government can easily stop most of the illegal problem but they "don't want to". Illegals represent too many liberal votes for the Democrats to act while the Republicans have been successfully intimidated by the Liberals to not act to be politically correct instead of doing what the Nation needs to survive. This law is a symptom of the real problem and that problem is we are not protecting our borders causing hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to be spent supporting the illegals at the State level.

There is the "REAL" problem Bender. The responsibility for securing the border and deporting the illegals is on the Federal Government, and when they refuse to do that, it is not the Federal Government who has to pay for that lack, it is the local States who have to pay for the Federal Government's failure. This law is an attempt to stem the flow, I personally do not feel it is enough by far, but it is a beginning. But make no mistake, this was completely avoidable if the Federal Government had done their jobs.

This goes back to a point I have made before, we are way beyond the need for action, we do need to act, the question is will the Federal Government continue to dodge their responsibility or will they step up and not leave the States alone to fight this issue themselves? If they leave it to the Sates it will be messy and inconsistent, it will put Americans on the edge and we will most likely see a lot of bad behaviors in the future, all avoidable if the Federal Government steps in and does their job.

What states should do is do as much as possible to see tax dollars do not go to services to illegal immigrants, including schooling. That and jail time for employers would be quite effective.

The problem with that is the workers hugo.

All of the people who would work for those Government agencies are radical liberals and would never intentionally deny a claim for illegal status. There are already rules saying they can't get welfare but the workers already ignore those rules. Schools are the same, when was the last time you ever heard of the teacher's union supporting a conservative? Teachers are almost all way, way left liberals and they will never try to limit access to their schools to only those who are legal.

I agree. Big fines too, make it very unlikely any employer will take the chance.

But, I also support a guest worker program, let them come work as long as they are paying their taxes and are doing it right. The process must start with them going home though, no amnesty and no fast track to being an American.

Here's the stupidity of TJ

Last I knew, illegals can't vote. Now he's insinuating it's a LEFT .vs RIGHT thing. Yeah, them evil liberals went out and made the Republicans of Arizona pass a racist law to win their hearts over and pull in some more voters.

What a moron.

lol, now don't get all personal Bender, I will start asking you to back up your claim Bush lied again and watch you squirm, lol.

Last I knew, illegals can't vote.

Why do you think only liberals are against identification at the voting booths?

Also, legal mexicans vote for liberals because it is the liberals who are always trying to help the illegals stay and get free welfare, if the liberals went for National security and closing the border, almost all Latin Americans will turn to the Republicans because they are have more in common with the morals and possitions of the conservatives than the liberals.

Y^our the moron Bender, of course it is a left vs right thing, it has always been the intention of the liberals to have an open border, only conservatives have been pushing for controlling our Southern border and now that the Failures of the Federal Government has gotten to the point of critical mass, these States have no choice but to try and take some action themselves. This is not a racist move, it is a self preservation move, the State of Arizona can no longer afford paying for the millions of illegals that are draining the system.

They have to do something, maybe this idea can be argued to not be perfect, I will admit to that, but doing nothing is worse, if this is enough to get the Federal Government off it;s azz and to actually fix the problem than this is all worth it.

Hiding our heads in the sand does not fix the problem Bender.

The Supreme Court would have to revisit Plyler v. Doe, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Posted

And again, like I originally stated, if they REALLY wanted to do something about it because the feds are so damn incompetent, why don't they secure the borders themselves? Why don't they crack down harder on the people who employ illegals?

I'll tell you why.. BIG MONEY doesn't want to get rid of illegals

Would not cracking down on the employers also take new laws? Would not closing the border themselves also cost a lot of money?

That said both me and hugo have already said we agree huge penalties should be imposed on anyone who hires illegals but tell me something Bender, how do we impose a fine or jail time if we don't "FIRST" catch the illegal? We have to know where he is working so we can impose the new penalties and that requires people on the ground finding the illegals.

Also, I agree that the Federal Government is mostly incompetent in much of what they do, but this is not a problem caused by incompetence, it is an intentional act to keep the borders open. It has almost nothing to do with business, while one group would be unhappy, another group would step up with their support because this is exactly what they needed to prosper. There is a balancing point in business where you hurt one, and that helps someone else.

New study shows that Arizona spent over $2.7 billion on supporting illegals in 2009, obviously a problem Arizons needs to deal with
