timesjoke Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Two fans at a Phoenix Suns basketball game were ejected from their first row seats and removed from the arena last week after refusing orders from security guards to take off their shirts in support of Arizona’s recently passed law against illegal immigration. One of the fans, businessman Jim Clark, said he and a friend, who were wearing orange shirts that read “Viva Los 1070, eventually were allowed to return to their seats during last Wednesday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs after speaking with a security director. This is not the first occurrence of politics creeping into the Suns basketball games: On Cinco de Mayo, team owner Robert Sarver came up with the idea for the team to wear “Los Suns on their jerseys in protest of the immigration law. That’s what drove Clark to don his own shirt. “If they’re going to shove their politics down my throat, I’m going make a message of my own, Clark told The Daily Caller. The phrase “Viva Los 1070 is in reference to the recently passed Arizona immigration law, Senate Bill 1070. The basketball team decided to make a political statement on their uniforms against the new law, private citizens fugured if the team can make a large supportive statement on their clothing against the new law, why not support the law with their own clothing, obviously only people who are saying the "CORRECT" political things are allowed to do so in that stadium. We are being divided people, like it or not this is a problem and we can't just ignore the problem and think someone else will fix it "some day". The Arizona law is difficult, but the situation they are in is even more difficult and the decision was not made just to punnish or hate illegals, it was done because the State has no other choice but to do something, anything to bring this problem under control. To all those people who are attacking Arizona I say this, it is easy to complain about Arizona when it is not you who is paying billions of taxpayer dollars every year. If your feel that bad for the illegals, do not just sit there complaining while an entire State is facing ruin because of this illegal problem. I bet nobody complaining about this law has invited illegals to come live in their home. Quote
eddo Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 just an FYI: Many Arizona sports teams (and some other states too, I believe) donned "Los [insert team name here]" jerseys last season, well before SB 1070 was proposed or passed. It was re-proposed as a support measure for those anti-1070 this year, but it isn't really a new thing. It was stupid for this guy and his friend to get hassled. but if I had my wish (and enough cash) I would have bought $10,000 seats to the Lakers/Suns basketball game last night (in LA) and handed them out (along with one way bus tickets to LA) to any and all illegal immigrants I could find... emkay64 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Who cares? It's a t-shirt! If you're okay with this then you should be okay with a kid being sent home for wearing an American Flag. Good christ what a load of useless twaddle! Quote
timesjoke Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Ya, I had heard about the anti-law stuff before but this is the first time I heard of where regular people were harassed for supporting the law silently, just a note on cloting just like the team had on their clothing, what a mess we are getting into and all because the Federal Government refuses to enforce it's requirement to control the border.
