my issue with Gaga is that she is the most blatant example of doing whatever she can for attention that I have ever seen. it's more about the image than the music.

makes me think she doesn't hold much stake in her own music, so why should I?

I've always been more about the music than the artist. I don't care how big of an idiot the artist is, I either like the song or I don't. I'm the same with actors; I don't care how big of an idiot an actor is in real life, I either like their acting or I don't.

Well said, I say the same thing, if I like it I really don't care about the weird activities of the artist, hell most of the really talented people in this world generally are weird, so I don't know how this woman is any different in that area, just her weird is unique to her. Michael Jackson was a deeply troubled and strange person for example, but I liked a lot of his music as one great example.

As I said before, if I can dance to it and there is not a lot of profanity, I will like it most of the time with few exceptions.

Whats wrong eddo, can't you dance?

Posted

lol, no, this white boy can't dance.

If I had heard a Lady Gaga song before I saw what an attention whore she is, that would probably have made a difference. But I heard about her exploits long before I heard any of her songs, and I am just not interested.

There are other artists that I swore I would never listen too, and then heard a song by them on the radio without knowing it was them and liked it. Miley Cyrus is one of them, as is Taylor Swift. I didn't want to buy into the teeny bopper hype, but those ladies have some good songs.

Wait... you like gaga... and don't like miley? I'm not a big fan of either one... but if i had to pick, it would ABSOLUTELY be miley.

Hey, "Non-believers" I've just got one thing to say to ya... If you're right, then what difference does it make, it wont matter when we're dead anyway... But if I'm right... Well, hey... Ya better be right...

I find myself wondering what artist you like that is not an attention whore?

To the best of my knowledge that describes just about every person in entertainment and politics eddo.

Well that's you. I don't like that girl. Just off the top of my head "Party in the U.S.A." she sounds like a cat being drowned. Even her regular speaking voice and accent are annoying.

Have to agree, most famous and celebrties are attention whores. Main reason why they chose that profession.

true, but some are more out there than others, know what I mean?

Gaga is over the top attention whore, in my opinion. as is Madonna.

call it the Paris Hilton effect on music if you will- people being famous for no other reason than to be famous.

I don't know eddo, to me it is like saying someone is a little pregnant, you either are or your not in my book.

Artists and politicians are in the business of seelling themselves, the more polular they are the more records they sell or the more powerful office they can get so more money they can get in bribes.

I actually agree with TJ. I think the persona they create is often how they make it. How they are in their personal life is usually much different. Apparently GaGa is a pretty devout catholic. You just never really know. madonna would never have made it where she is if she relied on just her voice. She's a marketing genius and so is GaGa. More power to them...although..I'm not really a fan of either :p

oh, don't get me wrong- it is absolutely genius.

I just don't agree with the lengths they are willing to go- like I said earlier: they apparently don't have enough confidence in their music to rely on that more, so if they don't, then why should I?

I don't watch "reality" TV for the same reason. People whoring themselves to that extreme doesn't interest me.

I don't doubt that all artists are in a way selling themselves, I just don't want to support those that go to the extremes. That's all.

I can agree with that too. Trying too hard for shock value or edge factor. I did buy a Madonna tape once though lol. I would totally go to either concert too...just because I think they would be crazy.

I guess my problem is that I don't really watch much entertainment TV, but I listen to the radio a lot. I don't see the antics that turn you guys off. I just hear the music, and I love music. My life is, and has pretty much always been, defined by music. The sound of the song means a lot, but the words are important, too. Gaga just has some really fun, really catchy dance songs.
