ImWithStupid Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 The liberal polling firm came out with this sobering news for democrats– An Obama endorsement is a kiss of death. Democrats are going to have to think really carefully about how they deploy Barack Obama for campaigning this fall. Polls we’ve conducted nationally and in several different states over the last few weeks have found that a candidate being endorsed by Obama is much more likely to elicit a negative response from Republican voters than a positive one from Democrats. PPP’s most recent national survey found that while Obama had a positive approval rating at 48/47, only 33% of voters were more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by him while 48% said support from Obama would make them less likely to vote for someone. That’s because only 64% of voters who approve of the President say his endorsement would make them more inclined to vote for a candidate, but 91% who disapprove say Obama’s support makes it less likely they would vote for one of his preferred candidates. To put into perspective the perils of having Obama out on the campaign trail, consider the numbers in his home state of Illinois. Even there just 26% of voters say they’d be more inclined to back an Obama endorsed candidate while 40% say his support would be more likely to turn them against a candidate. Quote

ImWithStupid Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 :nuke:Obama to campaign in Texas By PHILIP ELLIOTT and PAUL J. WEBER, Associated Press Writer Philip Elliott And Paul J. Weber, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 31 mins ago WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama plans fundraisers for fellow Democrats in Republican-controlled Texas, but his party's nominee for governor said Tuesday he would not join the event scheduled in the city that he used to run. Former Houston Mayor Bill White told The Associated Press that he couldn't block Obama from supporting his campaign to become the first Democrat to win statewide office in Texas since 1994. But he also suggested that Obama's visit opens the door for Republican Gov. Rick Perry to continue running against Washington insiders — an unwelcomed distraction in the Democrats' best chance to win the governorship in years. White is hardly the first candidate to ditch an Obama event. Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher, running for an open Senate seat, skipped public Obama appearances. Senate candidate Robin Carnahan flew to Washington to avoid appearing with the president in Missouri. And appearing arm-in-arm with the president cost Florida Gov. Charlie Crist his Republican nomination for a Senate seat, forcing him out of the GOP and onto the ballot as an independent candidate. http://news.yahoo.co.../us_obama_texas  1 Quote

ImWithStupid Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 To Help Fellow Democrats in the Fall, Obama May Stay Away By JEFF ZELENY Published: July 31, 2010 WASHINGTON — As lunch was served in the Roosevelt Room of the White House one day last week, President Obama assured the nine Democratic members of Congress sitting around the table that he would do anything he could to help them survive their fall elections. Even, he said, if it meant staying away. “You may not even want me to come to your district,” Mr. Obama said, according to guests, nearly all of whom hold seats that Republicans are aggressively seeking. Three months before the midterm elections, the president is stepping up his involvement in the fight to preserve the Democratic Party’s control of Congress. But advisers said he would concentrate largely on delivering a message, raising money and motivating voters from afar, rather than on racing from district to district. It is a vivid shift from the last two elections, when Mr. Obama was the hottest draw for Democratic candidates in red and blue states alike. And it highlights the tough choices Democrats face as they head toward Election Day with the president’s approval ratings depressed, Republicans energized, the economic slump still lingering and two veteran House Democrats now facing public hearings on ethics charges. http://www.nytimes.c...ma.html?_r=3 1 Quote

Any thoughts on the possibility that the prez in these times actually does nothing more than make a speech that is handed to him? Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
hugo Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I think the problem we got is over 51% of Americans want both more government and lower taxes. We are electing the ones who promise to pass the costs on to our children. ImWithStupid Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 Dem Strategist on Obama: “He Is a Walking Radioactive Disaster” A democratic strategist warned his colleagues today that Barack Obama has become a “walking radioactive disaster.” Hotline On Call and FOX Nation reported: Two years after his coattails helped sweep two dozen Democrats into office, President Obama is proving more a boon to Republicans than to Democrats during the midterm elections. His poll numbers are so morose that Democrats are planning ways to avoid his shadow, while Republicans plot strategies aimed at tying Obama to every incumbent member of Congress they can. The advice from Democratic consultants and strategists is almost unanimous: Run away from the president, and fast. A prominent Democratic pollster is circulating a survey that shows George W. Bush is 6 points more popular than President Obama in “Frontline” districts — seats held by Democrats that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sees as most vulnerable to Republican takeover. That Bush is more popular than Obama in Democratic-held seats is cause for outright fear. But disassociating oneself from an incumbent president is never easy, and Democrats have to walk a narrow line. Based on conversations with more than a dozen Democratic political operatives, here’s some advice for candidates looking to chart their own course, one that will send them back to the 112th Congress: • Walk, Don’t Run: “He is a walking radioactive disaster,” one senior Democratic operative said of the president. But any effort to seriously distance oneself from Obama is dangerous for an incumbent; go too hard against the president and voters think the candidate is faking it… http://hotlineoncall...to_lose_a_g.php Quote

Any honest person would not want to dirty their image during a campaign by having someone eo dishonest next to them. Proof? Really? You really want to go there? Are you that uninformed or do you have a list of premade excuses for all his broken promises you got from Media Matters ready? Let's talk about a couple and see how you do, I can offer more if you seem you can handle the first couple: ---The biggest lie, no new taxes for anyone who makes less than $250,000. I believe one of his first actions was to raise cigarette taxes 159%. The average smoker has an income around 30k so right there is a clear broken promise but we have more, his cap and tax bill will increase taxes on every American, and let's not forget the new healthcare bill that under litigation to fight it Obama says they can "tax" interstate commerce, and let's see, in the new healthcare bill there is new taxes on big insurance policies (Only Union Members are exempt from that new tax) and even a new tax on gold coin sales: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/gold-coin-dealers-decry-tax-law/story?id=11211611 New taxes imposed on people making less than $250,000? Hell, there is even new taxes on using tanning beds. http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/24/news/economy/tanning_tax/ Do you believe only people who make $250,000 use tanning beds? ---"we’re going to do all the negotiations on C-SPAN, So the American people will be able to watch.” Did we see the back room deals for Unions on c-span joker? Did we see the backroom details for the many deals to members of congress? 99% of this was done behind closed doors and to quote Brian Lamn (ceo c-span) “The only time we’ve been allowed to cover the White House part of it was one hour inside the East Room, which was kind of just a show horse type of thing.” ---“what I've done throughout this campaign is to propose a net spending cut.” Under Obama the net spending has increased by 2 trillion dollars. ---"will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days." Do I really have to explain that one? Let's see how you respond to this..... Quote
