Dear Mr. Lincoln

We [National Association for the Advancement of]
Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us [National Association for the Advancement of]
Colored People and we demand that it stop!

In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the ‘tea party movement’.

The tea party position to “end the bailouts” for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big
welfare and isn’t that what we want all [National Association for the Advancement of]
Colored People to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us [National Association for the Advancement of]
Colored People! Of course, the National
for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.

And the ridiculous idea of “reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government.” What kind of world would we have is I ever to control and be responsible for my life own? As
[National Association for the Advancement of] Colored People we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions and if you do not agree than there is not enough Colored in your People, as we labeled Ken Gladney

The racist tea parties also demand that the government “stop the out of control spending.” Again, they directly target [National Association for the Advancement of]
Colored People. That means we [National Association for the Advancement of]
Colored People would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.

Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government “stop raising our taxes.” That is outrageous! Totally racist! The tea party expects [National Association for the Advancement of]
Colored People to be productive members of society, especially when our mission is to convince them that progress is impossible for them based on the color of their skin?

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by someone else. Please repeal the 13
th
and 14
th
Amendments and let us get back to where we say that belong.

Sincerely

Ben Jealous, Tom’s Nephew National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Head Colored Person

He is definitely an idiot. I believe the original Tea Partiers had a Ron Paul philosophy. Now they seem to have disgruntled individuals of all types.

I don't get it. The link you have in your post doesn't take you to the writing you posted?

It leads to this...

Letter to Lincoln

.

A personal note from Mark Williams:

At the start of my interview on MSNBC this morning I was informed by the anchor that Ben Jealous, author of the NAACP anti-tea party resolution has offered something of an olive branch and wants to open discussions with tea partiers regarding dialing down the unproductive shots going back and forth. After the interview I contacted his office via email and provided him with all of my contact information, including my private telephone number in order to speak man to man with him and find common ground for progress. I do hope that he follows through and calls. The first round of beers at our ’summit’ will be on me.

Following what I believe to be a sincere move by Mr. Jealous I recognize that I have a responsibility to act in kind (just as I did in response to the NAACP’s anti-tea party resolution and what was said about us) and that the continued controversy over this post can only dectract from the discussions. Furthermore, I applaud Mr. Jealous and welcome his willingness to help move us past talking points and personalities. This nation has real problems and we are in real danger. That is no time for Mark Williams and Ben Jealous to get into a battle of egos and personalities.

Point made now we move forward.

To that end and as a reciprocal gesture I have removed the parody letter you came here to read and urge you to fight those who seek to divide us by race, no matter the color of the racist. Our fight is against tyranny and for liberty and to see that this nation continues the lofty goal of equality for all set for us by our founders. Make no mistake though, there are those for whom peace and progress is poison and they will continue to circulate the several versions of my article (Yes, there were several versions. As reasonable people pointed out to me wording that I agreed was indeed objectionable it was removed or changed by me personally.)

Now that Mr. Jealous and others realize their error and seek to mend fences it becomes my job to not offend rational people who disagree with me on the relevant issues while not sacrificing the truth. I heard too from many very sober and thoughtful people who counseled me that my comments were an obstacle to progress and that I missed my intended target. The day that I cannot learn something new will be the one following the coroner’s signature on my death certificate and this is not that day. So, with that I reiterate what I and every tea partier have said repeatedly: We denounce racists of any color and all those who seek to divide the American People along any lines.

I would suggest to those offended by the term “Colored People” (the phrase that made my article so controversial) please contact the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and join me in calling for an end to their use of the racial slur and that Mr. Jealous take me up on my offer to travel with me on the next Tea Party Express so that he may meet all of you in person. His contact information is below.

Sincerely,

Mark Williams

The Tea Party is just like any party outside of the RNC®™ & DNC®™. Once they gain some steam, they get taken over by fringe elements ( people like TJ ), and corporate money (Sarah Palin), then melded back into the party from which they were spawned.

Libretarian now = Republican who just doesn't want to admit it. A.K.A. undecided voter... yeah right..

So, a nearly extinct wing of the GOP is the only hope for a once-great nation?

Hugo, I hope you realise how defeatist that sounds.

Mr Williams has been expelled from the Tea Party.

That new NAACP leader seems rational.

Nope, not at all.

Since when is it racist to point out racism?

That's what groups like the NAACP, La Raza, etc, do.

The problem with the Teabag party, is they wanna stick to this "NOBODY SPEAKS FOR THE TEA PARTY" bullshit.

It allows them to get away with the racism and other bullshit. That way when one tea bagger acts a fool and is called on it, the rest of them can go "Oh... that guy... he isn't one of us"... Yeah bullshit.

If you wanna go claiming Raza, NACCP, MSNBC, and whoever you wanna toss in there as being racist, you first must acknowledge the accusations against the teabag party instead of trying to change the subject and try to say these are just fringe elements.

Teabaggers like to claim they all stand for the same thing, so what exactly is that same thing? Denial?

All large groups and movements pick up a few unintended and unrelated wacko personalities.

Trying to say "ALL" teaparty members are racists is like trying to say "ALL" liberals/progressives are exactly like this:

[attach=full]2856[/attach]

Idiots holding a sign or screaming out something stupid does not mean that everyone believes what the idiot believes/says.

The interesting part about liberals/progressives is when their fringe members speak, they listen, even canceling things like debates on Fox news because they were ordered to by the fringe.

As I said, there are bad apples that are drawn to these groups but they do not represent the entire gathering of people because the tea party movement is not controlled by any small group of people like say a formal group like the NAACP is controlled by a narrowing list of people.

But does the NAACP have racists in their circles? Do they turn a blind eye to descrimination against white people?

Do they even cheer when examples of 'sticking it to whitie' are discussed at their meetings?

You decide:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJtEsGZE_fA

I have been to many tea party gatherings over Florida, Georgia, and even one in Ohio while I was there visiting my Sister. I have spoke at two of these meetings and not one time did I ever see a general air of racist beliefs in any of these meetings. Sure you can have a weirdo or two show up with horrible signs but the vast majority of people who show up to these gatherings are great Americans expressing their right to gather and express their feelings about the direction America is going and how we would like to see things like less deficit spending.

The only racist element is the one being inserted by the liberals/socialists/progressives who feel we should not be allowed to dissagree with their agenda to completely change America into a socialist State.

I see you've been reading the right wing blogs again.

I wonder if O'Rielly is gonna set the record straight on this like other news sites have done.

This woman was talking about how "24 YEARS AGO" how she discriminated against a white guy, and how wrong that was"

Try looking for the clip in full context, instead of the right wing spin machine short clip you wanna make everyone think is the truth.

Nice try with the race baiting though.

I saw the video yesterday and it said it was 24 years ago, didn't post it because I saw it as a non-issue.

TJ must have been "duped" by the same blogs that the Obama administration and the NAACP were, and they once again, in another knee jerk reaction, they "acted stupidly".

I was not "duped" by anything, I was pointing out how the audience was cheering and clapping as the woman was telling her story.

All those NAACP members in the room enjoying a story about "sticking it to whitie" and never saying anything about her for years.

Those years was plenty of time to elapse for those members to complain about her and have her removed but they did not do anything until the video was made public.

That proves the NAACP condoned racist attituded and commentary as long as it was against white people.

Too bad both of you were incapable of understanding my point, I even gave you some hints before the video but you still missed it.

So do THESE Tea partier's represent the Tea party? Or is this yet another one of those fringe elements?

I don't know anything about the guy's politics, but what is wrong with the clip?

So you see nothing wrong with the ****** signs, the depictions of the President with huge lips and nose, or the witch doctor photoshop, or accusations of being Kenyan, or the many other coded racist signs?

Yep, a knee jerk reaction. Guess it could have been a worse knee jerk reaction... maybe something like a starting a war in the middle east under false info type knee jerk reaction... but, since it's the Obama administration, let's blame the president for not micromanaging every little department out there and say it's his fault. Let's make it out to be an even worse decision then Iraq and impeach him.

Yes. Knee jerk. Present information to Congress, wait for declaration, then present information to the United Nations wait for resolution and assistance from over 100 nations that agree.

Knee jerk.

Are you sure you linked to the correct video?

I don't see any of those things in the video. I see a guy in a Hummer, people walking behind him with signs with his name on them.

I also don't see anything in the video that says anyone in the video, the candidate or his supporters have anything to do with the tea party.

What the hell is THAT all about? Vote the way we want or else?

That's nothing more then intimidation.... and childish.
