Guest mike Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 hi, if i encrypt my hard drive with bitlocker, and do complete system image & also data backups, are those backups also protected by bitlocker encryption ??? thanks, mike. Quote
Guest Steve Riley [MSFT] Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 If you're using tools that run after you boot the copy of Windows protected by BitLocker, then the backups won't be encrypted. -- Steve Riley steve.riley@microsoft.com http://blogs.technet.com/steriley http://www.protectyourwindowsnetwork.com "mike" <mikeyTJ2000@canada.com> wrote in message news:E21EC65E-1639-4B30-AA09-5D862F9644B0@microsoft.com... > hi, > > if i encrypt my hard drive with bitlocker, and do complete system image & > also data backups, are those backups also protected by bitlocker > encryption ??? > > thanks, > mike. Quote

Not only is that huge and uncompressible, but it also can only be restored to a machine that has at least the same size drive, same sector sizes, and same number and placement of bad sectors. Guest andyb597 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 So how do you make sure that your backup is encrypted as well? In our office, files are automatically backed up through the network. That means my files will be un-encrypted on the server. -- andyb597 Quote
