The easiest and quickest fix is to right-click on the drive icon and choose "Open". Then look for a file called autorun.inf and if you find it, delete it. Otherwise, do the normal scanning for viruses and malware: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2....emoving_Malware Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! Guest generalcaw Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 I'm pretty sure it isn't malware... as i have tried all the programs or most of them in order to try to fix the problem. the problem originated when i first installed apple itunes as it was needed so my brother could put songs onto his ipod. but it could have been something else which may have triggered it... i have also scanned the entire drive with avast anti virus, norton internet security and kaspersky internet security (not installed at same time)... and didn't find any viruses at all. also when trying to access hidden files and folders you cannot as the option in tools doesn't apply. is there any fix?? i have uninstalled itunes to try to fix it but it doesn't. i have also tried registry cleaners and tried enabling some startup functions in msconfig. but still no joy... only thing i can think of is a clean install... only thing is i don't have an install disk... so i'll have to get one of a torrent site... i wish Microsoft would allow you to download a copy from there website, and for it to be only usable with the licence key i already have... or for the computer supplier to give you a copy with the purchase of the pc. anyway that is the only thing i can think of to get around this problem. Guest Snarfie Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I am sitting with exactly the same problem and this is my findings: AVG anti-virus, does a scan, and it detects an autorun.inf "virus" and a 2fitri something file. Obviously one removes it as it is melicious. I have noticed that the moment this has been done, you get a problem: If you double click on any of your drives in my computer, it brings up a screen "open with". You can access the drives in all otherways but not through "my computer" with a double click. Does anyone have a solution that could actually work? -- Snarfie ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snarfie's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?u=52569 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=913151 http://forums.techarena.in Quote

You have malware that spreads through the AutoRun capablity of removable media. All your Read/Write media such as Flash Drives must be cleaned or you risk re-infection or spreading the infection to others. Did you try rebooting your PC before you click on a drive in Explorer you actually browse said drive ? If not, please do so. -- Dave http://www.claymania.com/removal-trojan-adware.html Multi-AV - http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp Quote

Try searching around for "Disk Night fix tool" or something like that, it will fix the problems caused by disk night. Quote
