Guest charliDMB Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I keep getting a message that Windows is blocking me from opening an exe file. The program isn't harmful, i KNOW what it is and have used it before. I want to open it, but it doesn't even get me an option, it just closes it. Please help, I am extremely frustrated. Quote
Guest charliDMB Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 the message is Windows found that this file is potentially harmful. To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file. there is no option to go around the block, I don't need it blocked, I know what it is, I've used it with my old pc for probably 8 years, its paint shop pro 7 "charliDMB" wrote: <span style="color:blue"> > I keep getting a message that Windows is blocking me from opening an exe file. > The program isn't harmful, i KNOW what it is and have used it before. Guest anglomd Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Answer to this problem IF it is happening within VISTA (Aghhhhhhh -why did I ever move over to vista) I had the same problem with some .exe files. Can't promise this will work, but it worked for me. Only advice please put in place a restore point BEFORE you follow this plan of action, just in case you wish to return to your current settings. 'Add \"Take Ownership\" to right-click menu in Vista' (http://www.petri.co.il/add-take-ownership-...-menu-vista.htm) Let me know if you are having any other probs with running OLD progs in vista this can be cured easily too...... Good luck, let me know your results ANGLO MD -- anglomd Quote
