AVG Free 7.5.519 has a serious bug in avginet.exe.

Very often, the morning AVG update fails and in the task manager you can see

avginet.exe is using 100% CPU core and it remains in deadlock!

Solution:

How to remove AVG Free Antivirus

Download/execute:

Avira AntiVir® PersonalEdition Classic - Free

You may wish to consider removing the 'AntiVir Nagscreen'

Uninstall the AVG, and use Avast free 4 Home anti-virus

It is low resource using, and vista compatible.

As is AVG free. I use it on Vista and have had no problems whatsoever.

There are however, some concerns that Avast! inhibits superfetch....Google

for it.

I have been using Avast for years on XP, and now Vista; with no probs.

MVPs recommend it as well.

re download it

instead of doing the uninstall option

use the repair option

see if that works

if not

uninstall the whole program

usce ccleaner to remove all temp files

Use ccleaner to remove all registry files pertaining to avg (if it leaves

any)

now reinstall avg and see if it works

I have been using avg for 10 yrs with no problems.

In fact I am using the avg 8.0 pro now

It had some bugs but most is fixed as of the latest version

and in a few months they are coming out with the free version

It does not lock up on my HP Desktop over a dialup connection; do you have

enough RAM memory? Have you visited Grisoft's website and checked the FAQ's?

Often the answers for the "pay" version also apply to the "free" version.

mikk,

I have a subscription for the paid version of AVG AntiSpyware 7.5. I

could never get the license key to work, whether I typed it in the license

activation box or copied and pasted it. I accepted the free upgrade to AVG

Antivirus but could not get the new license key to work for it either. I

then uninstalled the AVG Antivirus and reinstalled the AVG AntiSpyware and

the license key would not activate the software.

However, the license key DID work when I sent a support request. You

cannot contact support without a valid license key. Grisoft then send me an

email with the same license keys and of course they would not work either. I

decided to uninstall it and never install it again.

I will never use Grisoft's software again. It's not worth the time and

trouble.
