Guest Richard Fangnail Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I just had the worst time upgrading AVG 7.5 to 8. I didn't like 8 because of all the new dialog boxes so I uninstalled and reinstalled 7.5. I don't like the AVG firewall so I turned it off, but whenever I restart, the AVG firewall is on again (I have my Windows firewall on all the time). If I check for upgrades in AVG it gives a long list of priority updates and optional updates. I'm afraid to click on those as I don't know what it will do. I'm pretty sure I can still update the virus database like before. Quote
Guest Sirtokalott Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I'm not aware of AVG having a firewall. Could you tell me what the component is called. If it is the resident Sheild you are referring to, this is more of an anti-virus which scans as files download to try'n avoid downloading viruses in the first place "Richard Fangnail" wrote: <span style="color:blue"> > I just had the worst time upgrading AVG 7.5 to 8. Guest Sirtokalott Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Sorry I meant to add that I have downloaded all the available updates and this does not upgrade you to version 8 "Richard Fangnail" wrote: <span style="color:blue"> > I just had the worst time upgrading AVG 7.5 to 8. The free version doesn't If you purchased this- send an email to AVG- you can use their web page to send the email explain what is going on and they will help you. As for the upgrades you need them- I have been beta testing avg 8.0 from the beginning and you need all the upgrades so it is stable. robin Quote
