You do need a new client package for Vista. However, you also need your IT

people at work to configure it for you. The stock client that you got from

Citrix is not configured to connect to any specific network. It must be

configured with where to go. Typically the IT department will do that for you

and provide you with a client that is properly configured, just like the one

you had on XP that worked. It should be no different for them to do this with

the new client than it was with the old one.

 

If they can't do that fast enough, you can configure the server URL yourself

in the new client that you just installed. If the only option they have

changed is the server URL, this may make it work. Here are directions from

Citrix on how to do that:

 

To change the server URL in Program Neighborhood Agent

1.In the Windows notification area (bottom right hand corner of the screen,

by the time and date), right-click the Citrix Program Neighborhood Agent icon

and choose Properties. The Server tab displays the currently configured URL.

2.Click Change URL and enter the server URL in the format

http://servername or https://servername to encrypt the configuration data

using SSL.

3.Click Update to apply the change and return to the Server tab.

4.Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

 

You will need the server URL from the company to do that. The IT department

will be able to tell you what it is.

 

The best solution, however, would be for IT to provide you with an updated

client.

I was directed to install a new ActiveX control for IE7. This was

done, but IE still will not launch the company web page. I tried it

both from the C:\ drive, and from the USB drive containing the file

that I was originally given. With the USB stick, I was able to

manually enter the company URL and after giving Data.exe permission to

run, I did reach my work desktop. This process does not work when

attempting to manually enter the URL after running the file from C:\.

I will provide more info as I receive it.

Problem now solved.

 

What the IT guy failed to tell me, after being frustrated with my

supposed trouble-making, was that the Data.exe file that I've been

using since day one was for XP only. He never told me not to use it w/

Vista. The end result is that after opening IE without the aid of

Data.exe and manually entering the URL to the company web site, I am

able to enter my signon codes and navigate to my work desktop. All I

have to do is give one extra click to allow the Citrix PSC to run, and

I'm in.
