Guest KRK Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Hello Can anyone recommend free downloadable anti-virus, anti advert, anti trojan software please. I do have Norton, and its updated regularly, but I read so many horror stories I would like to run other progs as well to be doubly sure. Thanks K Quote

For free antivirus, I like Avast. For Vista, I usually just leave on Windows Defender and let it do its thing although in general I prefer not to have stuff like this running in the background. For XP, I like Malwarebytes' Anti-malware program. There is a free version which runs on demand. The best anti-malware protection is an educated user. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971 - So How Did I Get Infected Anyway? http://www.getsafeonline.org/ https://www.mysecurecyberspace.com/ http://www.getnetwise.org/ http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_Removal...n:_Introduction http://www.claymania.com/safe-hex.html http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm - The Parasite Fight http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldron/archi...2/05/82584.aspx - MVP Harry Waldron - The Family PC - How to stay safe on the Internet Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! Guest Chris Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 AVG is FREE and one of the best I have found. I don't even use Norton's anymore. Sometimes running two at the same time, even though different, can cause issues too.
