Guest Tim Riley Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I am trying to access certain folders, such as C:\Windows, and get the message that access is denied. The account under which I am logged in is the only administrator account on the machine. How do I change the so I have full access to everything on the machine? Tim Quote

If you can gain access, end of story. If not, try the link below regarding " Take ownership of an item ". Please tell me your result. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-ta...rship-file.html Quote
Guest Steve Riley [MSFT] Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 We changed the ACL model in Vista so that even local administrators have only read access to the operating system files. What are you trying to do that requires more than this? -- Steve Riley steve.riley@microsoft.com http://blogs.technet.com/steriley http://www.protectyourwindowsnetwork.com "Tim Riley" <TimRiley@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EF129E79-F3AB-414C-BEDA-E82A13195AE5@microsoft.com...<span style="color:blue"> > I am trying to access certain folders, such as C:Windows, and get the > message that access is denied.
