Guest newbie Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 what could be causing my computer to boot up so slowly? If anything i thought it would be faster since I just removed a bunch of spyware and a virus too. I had to use stopzilla because live one care was not detecting it .I could see a trojan in my files so I bought stopzilla and it found no less than 34 infections, I removed them all and now is when i actually notice weird behavior from my computer. any suggestions? thank you. If you have no other ways of achieving this, it ultimately means flatten and rebuild. Then you need to implement a security concept for the future in order to keep malware out instead of relying on removal tools. Quote
Guest newbie Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 to: engel, thanks for your suggestion but the link you provided is no longer available and microsoft support(posts)does not have any info on actually recovering after removal of malware, at least i couldnt find any and to: straight talk , i guess i never did verify my comp.is clean now because i dont know how, where can i find instructions on how to make sure my computer is clean? i though by running one care and stopzilla together along with windows defender it would be sufficient, but my computer is definetly acting weird and i would like to know how to" flatten and rebuild" thank you all so much -- "Straight Talk" wrote: <span style="color:blue"> > On Sat, 17 May 2008 15:10:00 -0700, newbie > <newbie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > <span style="color:green"> > >what could be causing my computer to boot up so slowly? There's a good chance there are more bugs that need to be removed. Try SuperAntiSpyware Free and Spybot Search & Destroy: www.superantispyware.com http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Quote
Guest Milo Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Try this if youre in the US / CANADA 1-866 727 2338 ( that’s Microsoft Security ) also Pcsafety as far as I know can proceed with your final cleanup concerns since there are / has been significant change in the systems performance after clean up. as you indicated was there any malware / spyware detected by both Onecare ( or previous Windows Defender ). Guest newbie Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 thanks victek ,i did run spybot and did find additional spyware! dont know why im suprised, however my computer is still acting funny so i uninstalled stopzilla because thats when the really weird behavior began, but i dont know if maybe it removed something that was not supposed to be removed or if stopzilla itself was the problem, its only been a few hours since removal of sz and my computer is running much faster but ill need time to see if it helped the weird behavior at all, its strange how i didnt notice any weirdness until after i installed sz, but sz DID find and remove desktop virii which i could see but couldnt remove before sz soo... maybe sraight talk was right and i should flatten and rebuild. thank you. -- "Victek" wrote: <span style="color:blue"><span style="color:green"> > > what could be causing my computer to boot up so slowly?
