Is this an actual microsoft product? I keep getting this message on the

computer saying I need to downloan Antivirus 2008 and that it has found many

viruses on my PC. When I looked up the file location it comes up in

C:\users\AppData\Roamong\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

It is causing problems on the PC and looks like it just was created a few

days ago. I can't get into e-mail because it says there is a threat and won't

let me continue. I tried to delete the file but I couln't find it when I went

into my computer. There was no App Data file that I could see. I have Norton

antivirus installed and I ran a scan on the file but got nothing. I want to

get rid of this but don't knwo how. Can anyone help?

No. This is one of the many rogue antivirus/antimalware programs. They are

called "rogue" because they pretend to be one of the Good Guys but in

reality they are Bad Guys. You've got an infection. Here are removal

instructions:

It is difficult to say anything regarding this as you have mention only

Anti Virus 2008 however you may isolate if the issue is caused by

Norton. Disable the Norton 2008 from the startup and check.

1. Click Start Peal button .

2. In search button type " msconfig "

3. In the system configuration window click on startup tab at top.

4. Uncheck the Norton that you find

5. Click on Apply and ok to close the window

6. Restart the PC.

I wanted to thank you. I did what you said and it looks like the malware is

gone. I never hit the okay button when it wanted me to continue with the

program. I don't know if that means anything but I knew it wasn't a Norton

program and I was leary of it. But the good thing is that it is GONE! Thanks

again!

Here is the web site that offers the product

http://www.vav2008.com/

I installed it and am trying to get my money back to no avail. I told them

that I was going to report it to the attorney general, better business bureau

and chamber of commerce. I think I am out the $68 + they charged me - not the

original amount they said they would charge ($38).

If you paid for it using your credit card, contact you credit card company

and order a "charge-back". Tell you company that you've attempted to

resolve this with the software company but have had no success. You will

get credited.

Neither of those. I like NOD32 (commercial) or Avast if you need a free one.

There is no magic solution. Get tools, updates, and instructions from a

different, known-clean computer. Your alternative is to either take the

infected machine to a professional computer repair shop (not a

BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place) or back up your data and do a

clean install of Windows. Your choice.

Yes, I am sure that Malwarebytes' program is safe or I wouldn't recommend

Laurie, MBAM is an entirely legitimate and very useful tool. It is higly

regarded in the anti-malware community.

Sometimes you can get shook up by an infection, but you can bank on Malke's

advice.

Don't be scared. But do take action promptly.

Hello guys..

Today I finally found the solution to the virus... I fixed half of it

yesterday but did not know what to do to get back my programs on start

menu... After searching for a while. i fould something that TOTALLY

cleared my PC in a matter of 15 min and i just had to run it.. I am

OMG soooo HAPPY.... it was a pain in the ass and it was the worst

virus I have dealt with... so here is the link if anyone is

interested in trying.. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

hope it fixed yours as fast as it fixed mine.. and do share with

others..

Cheers
