Guest Uncle Scotty Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Help!! The installation of SmartSecurity caused my VISTA machine to core! I cannot boot up in windows! I can boot up in safe mode alone and safe mode with network connections, which is how I am getting this email to you. What do I do now? There is nothing listed as being installed on add/ remove programs, but there is a Start-Programs->Eset->EsetSmart Security with a few things listed. When I tried to uninstall to see if I could get a fresh install going- it said I could only uninstall apps that are installed. I don't know what to do!! Help ASAP, Scott Quote
Guest Uncle Scotty Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I was able to get a non-GUI version of SS to scan my hard drive, but then it got hung up. Here was the output for the part that did run... ECLS Command-line scanner, version 3.0.657.0, Quote

Guest Uncle Scotty Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I have tried that but there response time is quite slow, and I needed to try and figure this out over the weekend ideally before this machine is needed again in production. Plus, I have seen many postings about SmartSecurity, so I am not sure why this email is any different? -Scott On Jun 7, 8:40 am, Malke <ma...@invalid.invalid> wrote:<span style="color:blue"> > Uncle Scotty wrote:<span style="color:green"> > > In safe mode with networking connection, I was able to use the System > > Recovery tool in VISTA to wind back the clock to the point just before > > the coring started to occur. Certainly you should feel free to post a question about third-party software here. Someone who has the same problem as you may read your post and have an answer for you. In my mind it is always more efficient to contact the third-party software's tech support directly or to look for user forums for it. I'm afraid I can't help you. I don't know what you mean by "core" and I've installed NOD32 on a lot of clients' machines and had zero trouble with it. I've only got one client who is using the combination program of SmartSecurity and it has worked perfectly for her. I'm sorry I couldn't help you.
