Guest Krumrei Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I go to download.com I try to download AVG's latest Free software. It tells me save or run, I try both at first and then Save As ---> in my secondary harddrive. IT downloads all 43MB of the file and then just disappears. No file in the F: drive, no file found anywhere. What is up with Vista? I just upgraded to Ultimate from XP Pro last night, which took me about what 5 hours? And then I cannot even download anything from the internet. I changed all the settings in IE7 and unprotected it and then also I am an admin on the machine? Any thoughts? Quote
Guest John Barnett MVP Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Have you checked the 'Download' folder on your C: drive? That's were downloads are usually stored. -- -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert Windows Desktop Experience Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is". Guest Krumrei Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Not yet, but even so, if I try to save the file on my secondary hard drive, the file is not there? Or is that something Vista just does? Guest John Barnett MVP Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 It should save it were you tell it to. If you don't stipulate then Vita puts it into the 'download' folder. I personally don't use Internet Explorer's download option simply because, if the file is large, and the connection is slow, it has no 'pause' option. Currently I have stuck with the free version of Download Accelerator which does the job of downloading just fine. With Download Accelerator all downloads are stored in the 'my completed downloads folder.' If AVG is not in the Download file the try searching for it from the search box on the start menu to see if it shows up. -- -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert Windows Desktop Experience Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is".
