Guest howard Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Getting a "... You may not have appropriate permissions ... " message when trying to run an exe. The exe is on a small business server (2003) and the message occurs when the user is logged on to a windows 2003 server. No problem when running from any other client machine 1) user can run the exe successfully from any other machine 2) user has sufficient privilege 3) user is member of all the necessary groups 4) (even gave user domain administrator privilege - same results) Where do I go from here? Guest howard Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 OK, I spent $99 w/ Microsoft and got the following - 1. Open IE-> and go to Tools Menu 2. Choose Internet Options-> Go to "Security" tab. 3. Choose Internet ->Click on Custom level button. 4. Search for "Launching applications and unsafe files" -> Enable the radio button "Prompt(recommended)" 5. Repeat the steps 3-4 above for the "Local Intranet" zone. 6. Make sure to close all instances of IE and check if the problem is fixed. And it worked! I never would have guessed that an IE setting was blocking a user from running an executable whach has nothing to do with IE!!! "howard" wrote: <span style="color:blue"> > Getting a "...
