Guest t-4-2 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Hello everyone, In an earlier post, I inquired whether I should turn off Avast's "residen protection" as it was scanning my internet mails. I was advised to turn it off. I did. But now Security Center was warning that Malware Protection was turned off, and it listed Avast as being turned off. So, I turned it back on. My question is : I thought I was just turning off part of the Avast's protection. No ? -- t-4-2 Quote

To turn on or off individual components: 1. Right click on the blue A ball. 2. Click on "On-Access Protection Control". 3. Click on the "Details... >>" button at the bottom to see all of them. 4. Start all of them except the one for Windows Mail ("Internet Mail") to have as "Terminate". 5. Slide the Sensitivity slider to High for each one for better security. 6. Click OK when done. Hope this helps, Shawn -- Brink There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them. ' VISTA FORUMS ' (http://www.vistax64.com) Please post feedback to help others. Quote
Guest Mick Murphy Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 t-4-2 I left email scanning with Avast on in XP, and I leave it on with Vista. Guest Brink Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Hi Tomsa, I would just leave it as is with Avast running with all of the default scanner modules. If you have any problems with Windows Mail from the Avast email scanner interfering, then only "Terminate" the "Internet Mail" scanner module.
