Guest AliceZ Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I downloaded 9 Critical Updates for my WinXPsp3 desktop and saw one titled: KB 953838" which was Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP." When I downloaded Critical Updates for my Vista sp1, I also noticed a "KB 953838" Cum Update for IE7. Is that possible? An update for IE6 and an update for IE7 with the same KB 953838? Quote

Guest lincoln84 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I downloaded 3 critical updates earlier from Microsoft myself and still have had problems such as this one mentioned but not that number. Even after running Trend Micro cleaner about 3 times and Spybot at least 5 times since this morning I was hoping to get out of the quagmire as I call it. -- lincoln84 "Shenan Stanley" wrote: <span style="color:blue"> > AliceZ wrote:<span style="color:green"> > > I downloaded 9 Critical Updates for my WinXPsp3 desktop and saw one > > titled: KB 953838" which was Cumulative Security Update for > > Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP." > > When I downloaded Critical Updates for my Vista sp1, I also noticed > > a "KB 953838" Cum Update for IE7. > > Is that possible? Are you asking something different than the original poster (if you are asking anything at all?) If you are attempting to ask something - what is it and would you mind expanding on your query with a few details about your particular issue (perhaps in a new posting with a subject line referencing such issue, details within the body, etc...)? The "problem" mentioned here was that the original poster wondered if the KB953838 they saw for their Windows XP SP3 machine and IE6 could be the same KB953838 they later saw for their Windows Vista SP1 machine and IE7 - as they did not think they could/should be the same KB number considering the difference in product versions... Is your issue in any way related to that original question? If so - the resulting answer will probably be the same - that the KB could easily be for multiple versions of a product and span multiple versions of the OS those products may reside on... -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html Quote
