(No need to respond). Here is what I suggest you do: 1. Uninstall WLOC To uninstall Windows Live OneCare from Vista: Click the Vista Orb, then click Control Panel. Click Programs and Features. In the Uninstall or change a program list, click Windows Live OneCare, and proceed with the uninstall. Note that part of the uninstall will ask you to provide a reason for removing OneCare. If Windows Live OneCare does not uninstall as expected, download the Windows Live OneCare cleanup utility - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare...828910&SiteID=2 and follow the program instructions to completely uninstall. Note You will be prompted to restart your computer. You must restart your computer in order to completely uninstall Windows Live OneCare. 2. Turn Windows Firewall on. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/windows/e...cfa1c01033.mspx 3. Get yourself a good quality Anti-Virus application. Avira AntiVir® Personal - FREE Antivirus http://www.free-av.com/ 4. Get yourself several Anti-Spy applications. SuperAntispyware - Free http://www.superantispyware.com/superantis...efreevspro.html --and-- Ad-Aware 2007 - Free http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html --and-- Spybot Search & Destroy - Free http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html --and-- Windows Defender - Free ( build-in in Vista ) 5. Use Windows to back up your computer http://www.microsoft.com/protect/yourself/data/backup.mspx 6. Guest midway64 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Tom is right, the WLOC forum is the place to post for OC problems. Steve, Jim, and other MVPs do not get paid for moderating that forum but are there because they want to help other OC users. All you get in this newsgroup is "cut and paste" answers from some so-called experts here. -- midway64 [Desktop] Acer Aspire M5620 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz | 4GB RAM | Vista64 HP SP1 [Laptop] Acer Aspire 5570z | Intel Pentium Dual Core T2080 1.76GHz | 2GB RAM | Vista32 HP SP1 Quote

Guest midway64 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I fail to see why having my specs in my sig has anything to do with what was discussed here. FYI I posted this via a forum which encourages putting your hardware info into your sig to better answer your questions. Right now I am using Windows Mail to post so no specs. Believe me, I have no ego to bruise.
