You don't want spyware, so you want antispyware - and these are rogue because are designed to act like what you want, but then greatly misbehave once you run them. I consider them trojans (trojan horse programs). Metaphorically, if the Greek's, from the horse, each built another horse - put more soldiers inside said horse, and attacked more cities and repeating the process over and over and over - it still wouldn't be a virus (but that comes really close to demonstrating what a worm is), but a recursively self-replicating program.
