Guest StarBaseONE2 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I was cleaning up this Compaq Presario F700 Win Vista Home Premium when I stumbled across a hidden .docx file. Not being familiar with that extension I investigated a bit further... I googled the extension found out that it is a extension designed to make an Office document into an html file (with some format loss). Is that correct? Investigating further I clicked on properties>security tab and ran across something interesting. In the group or user names an unidentified account user appears! It is 'Account Unknown(S-15-21-2817377724-365178722-714591354-1001) Does anyone know any legitimate Win Vista OS account like this? Thanks ahead of time for your responses! There's nothing inherently sinister about them. I can't answer your question about the account. What does "cleaning up" mean? Did you have some reason to suspect the computer is infected? Guest StarBaseONE2 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Cleaning up means like Windows Defender scan Clearing up all the temp files... You know regular maintenance. Yes I wasn't terribly worried about the the extension as was the surprise account that I can't seem to find reference to anywhere else... StarBaseONE2 -- StarBaseONE2 Quote
