anti-virus for 2008 Server Core ?

I don't know a lot about the "Server core" installation of Windows 2008. But

from what I have read in Symantec anti-virus documents they don't support

this type of installation. Is that true? Does Server Core even need

anti-virus?

 

PS - Happy to read any documentation myself if you know of a good link

please send it.
