File Restrictions / Do not execute files

Hi.

Newbie. Have test domain with Windows Server 2003 and XP Professional at

the local machines. I would like for XP Professional machines to be able to

save text files to a shared folder on the server. However, once they are

saved I would not like them to be able to get them back out, delete them,

move them, or change them. At the same time I would like for them to be able

to see that they are in there.

I have been able to do this. There is one thing I don't like. If the XP

Professional machine goes to open the saved file on the Server It will

execute the file. There won't be any data showing, but it will open the

notepad window.

Is there a way to stop the notepad window from popping open like this? I'm

sure I can do it by restricting notepad, but I would like to do it through

file or folder permissions.

I believe I have done this in the past. I don't know why I can't do it now.

I thought you should be able to do it through the Traverse Folder /Execute

File Permissions?

Thanks in advance
