Guest chrisleembhc@gmail.com Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I've been infected with this program. It poses as a microsoft product but isn't. I called the Help Support line and got a message (206-203-5346) from the Federal Watch stating this is a hoax. My computer is now locked up and nothing will work. Does anyone know how to hack this progam out of your computer? chrisleembhc@gmail.com Quote

It is called "rogue" because it pretends to be A Good Guy but is really Evil. Do not pay them! If you are infected with XP Antivirus or Antivirus 2009/10, here are removal steps: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-re...-antivirus-2009 http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic154529.html (earlier versions) Removal instructions for Antivirus 2009: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5178 These may work for you and all may be well. However, in many cases the computer will also be infected with Zlob and/or Vundo trojans and protected by a rootkit. These machines are extremely difficult to clean. If your machine is one of these cases, either get guided help at one of the specialty forums below OR back up your data and do a clean install of Windows. It is your choice. If you are unsure how to back up your data or how to do a clean install, you can take your machine to a local computer professional. I don't recommend using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of places. Guest dfinc Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Antivirus 2009 is actually a virus pretending to be an antivirus program. it will continually popup and tell you that you are infected. Yes you are infected, but you are infected with Antivirus2009. the longer you remain connected to the internet with the infected computer the more stuff Antivirus downloads in the backdoor that it has created and infects your computer with even more viruses. http://remove-fake-antivirus2009.flesh9.com Restart your PC in safe mode with networking http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml Download, install, and run a full scan with Rogue Remover http://www.malwarebytes.org/rogueremover.php Run a full scan with Micro Trend House Call http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ You should also download, install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org -- dfinc ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dfinc's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/dfinc.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/security-virus/1062755.htm http://forums.techarena.in Quote

Guest dfinc Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Dear Lipman, i know its not a virus, it is a ROGUE SPYWARE but the simply word VIRUS is used to let newbies think what kind of this program is because i have seen many newbies who wonder and ask what do you mean by ROGUE or MALWARE? etc. anyhow thanks for posting more info about it. but the links i provided they really help removing antivirus 2009 and its other clones (It is cloned by its programmer, i agree with you that it dos,nt automaticalt/itself creates its clones). Good Luck and keep it up man:) -- dfinc ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dfinc's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/dfinc.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/security-virus/1062755.htm http://forums.techarena.in Quote
