I read the recommended virus removal tools for the Antispyware XP 2009 virus

but the virus does not allow me to download anything. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice

Use my Remove-it software, it will remove that malware from your system.

Choose yes for all options when prompted. Download it here

Be wary of anyone that lies that they are or ever were an MVP. This is

pcbutts1 under a different moniker (i.e., a nymshifter trying to hide

their known old identity).

Have you tried booting Windows into its safe mode (with networking) and

try downloading then?

If you can't get what you need from Safe Mode with Networking as Vanguard

suggests, then you must get all tools/updates from a different, known-clean

computer. If you don't have the skill and/or resources, then you will need

to either take the machine to a professional computer repair shop or back

up your data and clean-install Windows. Naturally, it's your choice. I

don't suggest using a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.

I just cleaned a pc of antispywareXP 2009; karna,dat; brastk.exe; and

several others. What I had to do was this:

1. Disconect pc from the internet (my case, unplugged ethernet cable)

2. Start pc in Safe Mode (tap F8 key repeatedly before Windows loads)

3. Used a USB flash drive to install antivirus files on infected pc

4. Tried to install antivirus files (some wouldn't)

[i used Avast, Malwarebytes' Antimalware, Spybot S&D, and SuperAntispyware]

[i got all from download.com]

5. Scanned, scanned and scanned again with each one that installed

6. Restarted pc in Safe Mode With Networking

7. Plugged ethernet cable back in (and crossed fingers)

8. Updated antivirus programs and tried installing the one that didnt

install before

9. Scanned, scanned and scanned again with each program

10. Went to Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner and scanned, scanned...

Also, I searched for "karna.dat" "brastk.exe" on the pc, then the

pain-in-the-a search for files with"virus" "vres" or "2009" in their name

(it's a pain cuz you'll get several legit files, but you might be able to see

the bad one)

(NOTE: you'll need to view hidden AND system files: in explorer,

1) go to "Tools",

2) then "Folder Options",

3) click "View" tab,

4) then click radio button to put black dot by "Show hidden files and

folders",

5) then scroll down a bit more and uncheck "Hide protected operating system

files"

and click "YES" on Warning message that displays)

Hope this helps.
