I would like to know if someone can describe to me the meaning of the "2"

within this string:

%SystemRoot%\system32\ftp.exe,2,"D:PAR(A;OICI;FA;;;BA)(A;OICI;FA;;;SY)

Does the 2 after the FTP represent the switch for "passive mode" or is this

a permissions all switch. I've looked and haven't been able to find the

correct syntax or other selections for this. Any and all help would be

appreciated.

Is the OS Vista?

Is this from an ini file or what?

I'm guessing since it seems related to file security maybe 'session'?

"This system is for the use of authorized users only. Individuals using

this computer system without authority,or in excess of their authority, are

subject to having all of their activities on this system monitored and

recorded by system personnel. Anyone using this system expressly consents

to such monitoring, and is advised that if such monitoring reveals possible

evidence of criminal activity, system personnel may provide the evidence of

such monitoring to law enforcement officials."

An interesting phrase ........ found by 'Googling' the whole string '

%SystemRoot%\system32\ftp.exe,2,"D:PAR(A;OICI;FA;;;BA)(A;OICI;FA;;;SY) ' and

reviewing the first response, viz:

Totally irrelevant, I'm sure! style_emoticons/

From the "xp-hardening[1].txt file in the first hit:

[File Security]

[...]

"%SystemRoot%\system32\ftp.exe",0,"D:PAR(A;OICI;FA;;;BA)(A;OICI;0x1200a9;;;IU)(A;OICI;FA;;;SY)"

[...]

I noticed the zero in place of the two in the former string - Vista uses

session 0 isolation so I guessed that the OS might be Vista and the

program might be user mode in that circumstance.

It would be nice to see some documentation that explains how that string

is constructed, but my searches were fruitless.

Yes. It is a variation of a common statement on some systems.
