Guest garywi Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Windows Update has installed Security Update for MS XML Core Services 4 SP2 four times. It it wants to do it again. Everytime I shut down the PC, it says installing updates. How can I get this to stop? -- Thanks Quote
Guest DL Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 By checking as to why the update failed and correcting the issue "garywi" <garywi@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:044D58AB-4A56-4B87-9836-D846B420F982@microsoft.com...<span style="color:blue"> > Windows Update has installed Security Update for MS XML Core Services 4 > SP2 > four times. Guest Alex Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Re: Windows Update Keeps wanting to install the same patch. KB9443 I have for your another possible solution... Open "Windows Update" from Control Panel. Click "Change Settings" and choose "Never check for update ( not recommended )". Leave this (new) setting for 1-2 days and then change it back to your default setting. Mine is ("Check for update but let me choose whether to download and install them"). If your issue is still there... Click Start->Type "cmd", choose CMD ( Run As Administrator ) and type: sfc /scannow Check again for updates. If your issue is still there... Hide it. Quote
Guest Peter Foldes Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Unfortunately this XML patch has a nasty habit of sometimes getting into a condition where it's being reoffered. Typically uninstalling and reinstalling does the trick. -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. Guest dford2201 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Ok:I have a possible solution... 1- _right_-_click the start menu...... 2--In your start search<type _Service>__then press enter....- -3-find _Windows_update_ and _click_stop_ service....- -4-Go to your _C:\Windows\_-__SoftwareDistribution\Download_..... 5- Delete any files or folder in the update folder.... 6--Go to your _C:\Windows\DataStore_-..... 7-Delete any files or folder in the update folder.... 8-_Restart_your_service_in_windows_update_.... 9-This should have cleared Windows UpDate..... I hope this work for you PS:dford2201 -- dford2201 Quote
Guest Peter Foldes Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 What you posted is not needed at all and can be hazardous to the poster at a later date. This issue is a single issue with a single Update and to wipe the updates out so it cannot be uninstalled later is beyond my comprehension. Besides that it will not solve this issue. A simple uninstall of this update and then a re-install of this same update will do the trick -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged.
