Guest barnyb3 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Hello all, I am new here so I'll explain as well as I can. I am administrator using admin account/. I have locked several drives from the guest account using security tab in properties. I installed family safety and windows live was set to auto complete the password. Now when I use the internet in Guest profile the family safety scanner auto completes. I want the guest profile locked down. The auto complete is disabled as admin however this is not transferring to the guest account. Hopefully its an oversight and will not be too complex to solve. -- barnyb3 Quote

You should not be running as Administrator for your daily work in Vista. Create an extra administrative account (call it something like "CompAdmin") and after you've done this, log into it. From there change your own account to Standard. 2. The Guest account is a special system account, not one meant for when you are feeling hospitable. It is disabled by default in Windows XP, Vista, Linux, Unix, and OS X for a reason. It doesn't behave the same way as regular user accounts do. From TechNet: "The Guest account is intended for users who require temporary access to the system. However, if this account is enabled, a security risk may exist because an unauthorized user could gain anonymous access to the system through this account." http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library...echNet.10).aspx So if you enabled Guest, disable it now and create a Standard/Limited (Vista, XP Pro/XP Home) for your visitors. Call the new user account something like "Visitor". 3. Now try whatever it is you're doing with "Windows Live". If it still doesn't work and you're referring to Windows Live OneCare, post the question about that program in its forums. Windows Live OneCare Forums: http://forums.microsoft.com/windowsonecare...t.aspx?siteid=2 4. Be aware that Live OneCare (which I don't recommend anyway) is being discontinued next year.
