I don't konw, I'm using most x64 compatilbe programs but maybe Avast is working wrong, a friend of mine bught the same laptop and with the same configuration. Everytime the systems crash or hangs on. any idea? -- boplelado Quote

Guest DL Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Recover the PC back to Factory settings Dont install anything! Test your PC, if its now OK its what you are installing that is causing the problems "boplelado" <guest@unknown-email.com> wrote in message news:d4073bec98431ada538f862d610550aa@nntp-gateway.com...<span style="color:blue"> > > - I will try this fix, but at the botton of the MS page says - > APPLIES TO > > > - Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit Edition > - Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Edition > - Windows Vista Business > - Windows Vista Business 64-bit Edition > - Windows Vista Enterprise > - Windows Vista Ultimate > > not home premium 64-bit edition, anyway I'll give a try > > > -- > boplelado </span> Quote
Guest David B. Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Run the HP recovery to erase the drive and put it back to factory condition and test without uninstalling or installing anything, if the problem remains contact HP support and put your warranty to use, if it doesn't, something you are doing is causing the issue. -- ---- Crosspost, do not multipost http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 Help Us Help You http://dts-l.net/goodpost.htm "boplelado" <guest@unknown-email.com> wrote in message news:dcf596f04d8d1f0ed4b7c12426323561@nntp-gateway.com...<span style="color:blue"> > > I bought a new laptop HP dv7-1020us, I uninstalled some few trial > programs, the anti-virus, etc, I installed Avast free, codec pack, all > the stuff I usually use, but everytime mi laptop freezes, I can't shut > down, I can't empty my recycle bin, it's strange normal use but it's > hangs on everytime, not responding progrmas, or folders. Guest rfh01nyc Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Similar to the initial thread, I recently purchased a DV7-1070 with Vista HP SP1 64x installed. About 2-weeks ago the laptop started shutdown very slowly. It would take 10 to 15 minutes. Last week, the symptoms became worse: 1. Shutdowns would not complete and require power off 2. Boot-ups would take longer and sometimes result in black screen 3. Messages that "Explorer.exe is not responding" forcing a hard shutdown 4. Significant slowdown and periodic "not responding" in MS Office 2007 applications I read the posts and tried a few things that seem to have helped. Specifically I ran SFC /scannow followed by chkdsk. I was discouraged by the SFC result, since it indicated errors were found that could not be repaired. After the chkdsk completed, I did a second re-run of SFC and encountered the same message. However, all the symptoms that were previously causing concern for system stability are gone. The system boots up fast (with no recent black screens) and shutdown is immediate. I've also not had any issues with unresponsive applications. I will also add that I downloaded and tried to re-apply Vista SP1 -- but I was unable to find a command switch to force the install and SP1 was already detected. I'll keep my fingers crossed that SP2 arrives soon and all of these issues (that may be part of a faulty base image) are resolved. rfh HP DV7-1070 Windows Home Premium SP1 x64 -- rfh01nyc Quote

No one knows to whom you are giving this information since you are not posting on a real forum as you think you are and you didn't quote any of the thread to which you are replying. You are using a web interface that leeches Usenet posts and most of the rest of us are using real newsreaders. We don't see what you do. If you want to participate in Usenet, the better way is to set up a newsreader. This is very easy to do and I'll give you information about that below. If you prefer to use a forum, then here are two excellent ones: http://forum.aumha.org/index.php http://http://computerhaven.info/ Since you are using a web interface, you may not realize that this is really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows, but you can use Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista) since you already have it.
