Hi All'

I was told to upgrade my Outlook Express from version 6 to 7 for better

security.

I guess this is a silly question but how do I do that?

Any information is appreciated.

There is no OE7.

There is an IE7 but Outlook Express does not come with it.

Thank you David,

I guess my age is showing. I was talking about IE6 to IE7. Sorry for the

mix-up.

Is there an easy way to upgrade to IE7 that an old man can do.

If 78 is considered old, then, as I upgraded to IE7, yes, and old man can do

it. Really though, age has little to do with the subject.

Instead, I suggest FireFox as your default browser.

I tried Firefox once - HIDEOUS !!!

....at least they could have modelled the GUI aspect of it on IE5/6/7 !

....and I can't believe you're recommending it !

Except for idiosyncrasies in dealing with PKI protected web sites, I think it trumps IE in

a heart beat.

You don't like it because it looks bad? Just

change the way it looks. Anything is better than

IE. Actually, using nothing at all is better than

using IE.

LOL !

IE7 ROCKS ! ...in fact even the older versions of IE were pretty good.

However, on an aged, badly maintained MS system, where the owner has never

made the effort to learn anything about the MS OS&GUI and how to keep it in

good order, and IE then becomes problematic - the owner very rarely realises

that it was his or her own GROSS inadequacies that caused problems with a MS

web browser !

People who recommend Firefox, are more often than not, using an MS platform

that, almost always, has been VERY poorly maintained, and is in a complete

mess, to start with !

Um.

Most people who try Firefox recommend it.

Most people use an MS platform.

Most people who download and install software from the Internet on their

computers have their systems untidy.

Most people with untidy systems have badly maintained systems. style_emoticons/ ?

However, those people recommending Firefox are not necessarily the same

people as that subset of most people who have badly maintained systems!

mmm! You seem to be attempting to "split hairs" where none need to be split

!

I've worked on quite a few PC's, with aged Windows platforms, where problems

were often caused by a severe lack of software maintenance, (often

compounded by inadequate hardware - across the whole gamut of hardware

considerations, including poor specification and poor build quality).

For example, some people with serious MS web-browser problems resort to

installing a non-MS web browser, (which sometimes works okay amidst the

hideous software mess that it finds itself installed into), instead of

cleaning up and/or repairing their MS OS/GUI environment. That may be a

solution for them but, some of those go on to shout all sorts of obscenities

at MS ! ...which is quite funny really, because they're really declaring,

for all the world to see, just how inadequate they are in doing a little,

occasional, maintenance :-)
