Guest George-NY Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Thank you David, I guess my age is showing. I was talking about IE6 to IE7. Sorry for the mix-up. Is there an easy way to upgrade to IE7 that an old man can do. Really though, age has little to do with the subject. Jim Quote

Guest RJK Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I tried Firefox once - HIDEOUS !!! ....at least they could have modelled the GUI aspect of it on IE5/6/7 ! ....and I can't believe you're recommending it ! regards, Richard "David H. Just change the way it looks. Anything is better than IE. Actually, using nothing at all is better than using IE. -- Jordon Quote
Guest RJK Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 LOL ! IE7 ROCKS ! ...in fact even the older versions of IE were pretty good. However, on an aged, badly maintained MS system, where the owner has never made the effort to learn anything about the MS OS&GUI and how to keep it in good order, and IE then becomes problematic - the owner very rarely realises that it was his or her own GROSS inadequacies that caused problems with a MS web browser ! People who recommend Firefox, are more often than not, using an MS platform that, almost always, has been VERY poorly maintained, and is in a complete mess, to start with ! regards, Richard "Jordon" <jordon@REMOVEgrahamtrucking.com> wrote in message news:gju6h2$7lb$1@news.motzarella.org... > RJK wrote: >> I tried Firefox once - HIDEOUS !!! >> ...at least they could have modelled the GUI aspect of it on IE5/6/7 ! >> ...and I can't believe you're recommending it ! > > You don't like it because it looks bad? Most people who try Firefox recommend it. Most people use an MS platform. Most people who download and install software from the Internet on their computers have their systems untidy. Most people with untidy systems have badly maintained systems. style_emoticons/ ? However, those people recommending Firefox are not necessarily the same people as that subset of most people who have badly maintained systems! Quote
Guest RJK Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 mmm! You seem to be attempting to "split hairs" where none need to be split ! I've worked on quite a few PC's, with aged Windows platforms, where problems were often caused by a severe lack of software maintenance, (often compounded by inadequate hardware - across the whole gamut of hardware considerations, including poor specification and poor build quality). For example, some people with serious MS web-browser problems resort to installing a non-MS web browser, (which sometimes works okay amidst the hideous software mess that it finds itself installed into), instead of cleaning up and/or repairing their MS OS/GUI environment. That may be a solution for them but, some of those go on to shout all sorts of obscenities at MS ! ...which is quite funny really, because they're really declaring, for all the world to see, just how inadequate they are in doing a little, occasional, maintenance :-) regards, Richard "Ian G" <iangr@ncable.net.au> wrote in message news:OMPuFbldJHA.1532@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Root Kit" <b__nice@hotmail.com> > Newsgroups: microsoft.public.security.virus > Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 4:18 PM > Subject: Re: Upgrade to OE7 > > >> On Tue, 6 Jan 2009 00:14:18 -0000, "RJK" <notatospam@hotmail.com> >> wrote: >> >>>People who recommend Firefox, are more often than not, using an MS >>>platform >>>that, almost always, has been VERY poorly maintained, and is in a >>>complete >>>mess, to start with ! >> >> Got anything to back up this silly claim? > > Um. > Most people who try Firefox recommend it. > Most people use an MS platform. > Most people who download and install software from the Internet on their > computers have their systems untidy. > Most people with untidy systems have badly maintained systems. style_emoticons/ ? > > However, those people recommending Firefox are not necessarily the same > people as that subset of most people who have badly maintained systems! > > Quote
