Guest Jo-Anne Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 My desktop computer runs WinXP SP3 (fully patched) and Norton Internet Security 2008. Suspecting that I had acquired malware, I updated the SuperAntiSpyware definitions and scanned my computer. No infections were found. I then updated Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and tried to scan with it. I tried three times, and each time it stopped scanning at a file in C:\WINDOWS\Installer\. The first time it stopped at 67db4d.msp, the second at 67dc35.asp, and the third at 67dc13.msp. It also wouldn't let me abort the scan. It simply locked up. I had to close down the computer to get rid of it. I ran the program in Safe Mode, and it completed the scan. It found no infections. Any idea of what might be happening and what I can do about it? I've never had trouble with this program before, and it ran fine on my other computer (a laptop running WinXP SP3 and Avira AntiVir). Thank you! Jo-Anne Quote
Guest Andrew Taylor Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 My wife is Jo-Anne, same spelling, same hyphenation.. spooky. Anyway, try running the Windows Disk Clean Up Tool before running the scan. It should remove unnecessary installer files. -- Andrew Taylor Mississauga - Ontario Canada ~ "Jo-Anne" <Jo-AnneATnowhere.com> wrote in message news:%23IBCeNKcJHA.5976@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl...<span style="color:blue"> > My desktop computer runs WinXP SP3 (fully patched) and Norton Internet > Security 2008. Guest Jo-Anne Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Thank you, Andrew! Will do. Is there any history to the spelling of your wife's name? I was named after my great-grandfather, Joseph, and my great-grandmother, Anna. Hence the hyphenation. Good thing you're not in the U.S. When I have to do anything related to the government, they don't allow hyphens in first names. My first experience of this was when they addressed a letter to me as Jo. They had split my name into two and then decided the second part was my middle name.
